Guest guest
I am wondering how many on the list serv are doing aesthetics to augment their practice and how many actually are using lasers? It is possible that this has been discussed in the past several months, but when I am really busy, I forgo reading my email. I have been getting frustrated at how hard and long I have to work to bring in $1000/ day, plus all of the additional finishing of notes, followup of labs, referral letters, etc that add another 4 hours to the 10 hour day. That is the billed amount, which is far from what we actually get, plus overhead of a part time employee. I really enjoy being self employed and I like the IMP model quite a bit, but even so it is quite labor intensive. It is of course possible that I may need some reorganizational help. I currently see patients 2.5 days a week, but am in the office much longer than that. If I add time, I would like to add time that I would get paid for. I need to increase my income and have considered taking out a loan for a laser, although that would be more than I paid for my house or my medical education and it seems counterintuitive to spend so much money to make money. I enjoy procedures and would really like to spend part of my week doing something fun rather than dealing with more paper work or computer work. I am also afraid that it might flop and then I would be left holding a rather expensive bag. There is another group in town doing aesthetics other than the 2 plastic surgeons and they farm out the botox, laser work etc to their midlevels. It is a rather open field right now. What are other's experience along these lines? Do you run 2 separate businesses or as a single business. Kathy Broman Mason City, IA 50401 kmlb2@...
