Guest guest
I have a question to the Soapware users among us: What software do you use for you billing? Thanks, Marius
Guest guest
Hello - I use Soapware and have been very happy with it for a little over a year. I am essentially a cash-only practice so I don't bill insurance. However, we still generate a 'superbill' for patients so they can bill their own insurance. We created a report in the Soapware program (one of the cool features of Soapware is that you can create a custom report which is automatically populated with info from any field you choose - demographic, progress note, ICD9, medication, etc.) and it provides all the necessary information for patients to bill. Depending on your volume you may be able to get away with just that function. We used the report function to create lab orders, radiology orders, consult/referall requests, so everything is generated out of the EMR for the most part. If you are going to do a more high volume practice and contract with multiple insurers, then you will probably benefit from a billing software (especially if you want to do electronic billing for Medicare, etc.) Rancho Mirage 1 year in LOVE practice, no insurance, opted out of Medicare, about 400 patients, consistently seeing 3-8 patients per day, I bill for phone and internet consults with established patients, and I do house calls! --- marissa wrote: > I have a question to the Soapware users among us: > > What software do you use for you billing? > > Thanks, Marius > > __________________________________________________
Guest guest
To all those Cash-only practices out there: 1) Have you had major issues with patients not getting their re-imbursement correctly? I have had a devil of a time with CareFirst (BCBS) who persist in making payments to the practice I left over 18 months ago (instead of sending checks to the patients who have paid up front!) I have mailed, e-mailed, called this company numerous times, and still the problem persists. I have been told that I cannot take my name “off’ as participating with the old practice and I have been told that I need a “non-partipating ID number”. It is to the point that I want to call someone in the state house to report this nonsense! Does anyone have experience with this problem, and if so, know of a way to “fix” it? (Or know anyone important in the CareFirst organization? J) 2) My practice is part of the TransforMed study and I have been told that I need a “user-friendly” document for patients to help them ‘walk through” this process of submitting their own claims. In trying not to “re-invent the wheel” I wonder if anyone out there has already created such a document that I could look at. Thanks for any input you can provide. Guest guest
I am using Lytec and am using the Zirmed process for electronic billing. Started with Lytec because I followed a solo practitioner one month of residency and he used that. The advantage is that you can buy it and not have to update unless you want to. His has been working for him for 7 years with the single $1000 investment. However, Lytec is not entirely intuitive, and I had the advantage of having someone I could go to to figure how to straighten things out if I got it wrong, who didn't charge me hundreds of dollars an hour. I use Zirmed for e-billing because that way I could not worry about any HIPPA problems: that was their shtick. I can print out all my physical bills from Lytec or from Zirmed if I want. There is an interface between Soapware and Lytec if I wanted to get it. I didn't bother since my patient load is not too bad; it means I double enter the systems information.. There are other good billing systems out there. Guest guest
Hm, I do like SoapWare but seem to have trouble finding a reasonably priced practice management software that interfaces with SoapWare (such as EZClaims). Any suggestions? Guest guest
We use Medisoft with Soapware. Whether you'd call it "reasonably priced" is open to debate. It certainly works well with Gateway EDI.
