Guest guest
How much do you pay for relayhealth? And for anyone using medfusion, how much for that? I couldn't get a straight answer from medfusion. I'm not a member of the AAFP and they did the old "how much would you expect to pay for all these services". Guest guest
I think it's $75 / month but there is a cut in the price if paid in full for a year. I admit it's price is steep. But I and many of my patients had used it in my former life within an hmo, so there was no learning curve for me when I started using it in my new office (I really appreciated that!). And now I've integrated it into my practice as a solo-solo practitioner. I've still not fully realized it's potential, but it helps me in many ways. .... I've got no ties to it, or anything else for that matter ... and I admit that if I could find a cheaper alternative that I could switch to rather painlessly, I would. So I am watching the full development of UpDox, especially with its potential tie in with AC. Tim -- Malia, MD Malia Family Medicine & Skin Sense Laser 6720 Pittsford-Palmyra Rd. Guest guest
For relatively important issues discussed with patients, I'll add brief addendums to a patient's AC record. Otherwise I just leave the RelayHealth note in that system. A huge percentage of the messages are administrative or not clinically significant. Same idea goes for my current files on the computer for patient reports/scanned items -- there's a file tree that is physically separate from AC that I access as needed. I guess if I were to make a full switch to a different system than RelayHealth I'll need to think about getting the patient " data " but honestly this whole concept of keeping every bit of communications between docs and patients is getting crazy... will they soon require us to start recording phone conversations as wav files for EMR's? So I simply don't sweat that at this point. Tim -- Malia, MD Malia Family Medicine & Skin Sense Laser 6720 Pittsford-Palmyra Rd. Guest guest
I am using eMD’s which has the option of “secure e-mail” to go out to patients. Patients love the idea of communication by e-mail. The trouble is that if they respond to my outgoing e-mail, the response goes into my regular e-mail file (outlook) and is not “secure” at that point. (AND, I have to cut and paste to get it into their chart in the EMR.) I have a few questions with regards to this system, in case anyone can find an answer. 1) How is it “secure” going out, and why can it not therefore be “secure” coming back in? 2) Is there any reason to think that the e-mail going out needs to be more “secure”? (I am thinking, perhaps, that if a patient sends e-mail “in”, they are consenting by default to using this non-secure communication method?) Anyhow, it has been working beautifully until today when something happened. Now I cannot get the e-mails to go out of the EMR directly! I am in a love/hate relationship with technology this week! Guest guest
I was just talking to the guy who developed my emr (doctors partner) about the different options for secure email etc... He says updox works by scrambling an email then sending it, the patient then has to download updox to get the descrambled message. If this is OK with the patient, it is a nice secure way to do things. Relayhealth relies on the info being stored on their server in a secure manner, both the doctor and the patient have to go log into the server to get the info, so it is secure. There is a very tiny chance that someone could pluck your info out of cyberspace on its way to relayhealth but this is thought of as impossible with the amount of data going at all times. I am still trying to decide what to do. The folks at my emr are trying to work on a secure portal now and think it will take several months to get it up and running. So I am trying out updox and may do relayhealth. I have the idea that relayhelath will make my life easier.
