Though it does not auto load my bank account info, it does allow auto down-load of business credit card AND, I recently added credit card capability with their merchant account feature. The swiper was only $86 (as compared to $250 with Solveras and $500 with Medfusion) and the credit card charges go directly into my “patient fees” account. It is really quite slick and in some ways I now prefer to have patients pay by credit card b/c I do not have to double enter… (I am non-participating so far with most insurance companies, so I am not sure how much more complicated it might be in the future…) I do not have practice management software, just eMD’s “chart”, so I do not enter the financial data into the medical piece, just into Quickbooks… Hope that helps. Quickbooks can work, but at times is not the most friendly program. It will also take payments without a swiper but it may cost more per transaction. Your can either print checks or use Billpay to pay bills electronically. Your can assign expenses to categories and creat reports that meet my needs for tracking expenses. I am able to download a .qif file from my bank to import info directly into Quicken. Reconciling the bank statement is a breeze and takes about 10 seconds to reconcile. For payroll I use a second program Quick Payroll also from Intuit the company that makes Quicken. This has a modest yearly fee but it works great for me. It calculates paychecks, deductions and all withholding taxes and then prints the paychecks. Then with the click of one button the info is imported into Quicken. Please let me know if you have any other specific questions. For two years, my former “partner” insisted that we had to pay $500 per month to hire someone to do payroll. Now I do it myself and it takes about, oh, 40 minutes per month to do everything, and I moved payday up by almost 2 weeks. Don’t let anybody tell you it’s too hard to do yourself! Here is a link: https://quicken.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/quicken.cfg/php/enduser/cci/launch.php . Scroll to the bottom and there is a link for QuickPayroll. However, I see support for this program but I do not see any link to currently buy this program. I may be grandfathered and on borrowed time with this program. I suspect that they want you to use QuickBooks and the QuickBook Payroll system which is more expensive. I do not know whether the QuickBooks Payroll program can import into Quicken. I didn't even balance my checkbook before all this madness of managing a medical practice began. Now I do payroll. Guest guest Posted December 6, 2006 Report Share Posted December 6, 2006 I love my Quickbooks too. I just upgraded to Quickboos Pro 2007 as they were no longer supporting my 2003. I do buy the basic Payroll service which is a nominal fee but have 3 employees to pay. They even have an electronic time sheet so I just put in the hours and it does all the calculation including tracking vacation time (I don’t offer sick time). It now takes 10 mintues every 2 weeks to do payroll. I only pay bills and enter deposits. My Practice Management software is Practice Partner which does all the patient and insurance billing. Quickbooks can send invoices if you are not dealing with 3rd parties and using CMS 1500 forms.
