Guest guest
It's a pity there are sooo many people on this list and only a handful of them post. Is there any time limit given to people to post? I know someone cleaned up the files section of the list, how 'bout someone cleaning up the members section? Just a thought, but some of them probably joined and have forgotten that they did or just don't post anymore. Not that it really matters, I wish they would come on and post and let us know how they are doing. But I'm thinking if you joined when the list was first started and haven't posted since, you're really not too interested. Anyone with me on this one? If not, forget I ever posted this:@) LB fl
Guest guest
I think a lot probably are on the web-only version and not interested anymore. There are also a lot that just lurk for information. I think it would be hard to determine. There's always the chance that if they are still on this list, they might remember it and cross the abyss for the first, second, or 3 time. For that, I think it is worth leaving them as subscribers. Thats just may opinion. Andyman > It's a pity there are sooo many people on this list and only a > handful of them post. Is there any time limit given to people to > post? Guest guest
Forgot to add, if all 1400 of them posted, how I'd ever keep up with all the mail so am glad some are lurking. There were around 1000 people on here when I joined the list 6 months ago. I am sure some people have left, but at least 400 new people have joined. I think that is pretty impressive even if all of them don't post. They are probably sticking around because the things they want to know are being asked and answered. Therefore, they don't have a reason to post. They are just here for information. Andyman > It's a pity there are sooo many people on this list and only a > handful of them post. Guest guest
Leigh, I'm on a few other lists that I don't post on. (yes, I can actually keep quiet sometimes!) From that point of view, I can honestly say that others may have good reason not to post. Not everyone on the list is as dedicated to BFL as we are. Some of them simply aren't e-mail people, but they like to go back to the archives every once in a while and search for answers to their questions. I'm on several lists for computer professionals, but I don't even get e-mail from them. It may be selfish, but I like knowing it's there in case I need to post a question really quick. You are right that there are probably many who joined and then forgot, but there's really no way to determine that. Besides, they're not hurting anyone by not posting AND when people see how many members are on the list they're more likely to join this list than one that has only 50 members. It's actually a benefit! -----Original Message-----From: Leigh Sent: Sunday, September 09, 2001 8:33 PMTo: bodyforlife Subject: 1400 and some odd members,,,,It's a pity there are sooo many people on this list and only a handful of them post. " Different people gain support in different ways, and while I post pretty rarely, I read the web-based list every day. The list has offered me tremendous support and I've gained so much information that I am now the resident BFL expert in my circle of friends that are doing it too. I enjoy reading the banter between regular posters, but don't really need to be included in that to get the information I want. This is really an excellent list, and I must say that when I do post, someone always takes the time to reply, even if it is just to say glad ya posted! The friendly, everyone welcome, non-threatening attitude is really special, I just think that excluding the lurkers is taking a step away from the reason we signed up to be members in the first place. Thank you to all members of this group for making it what it is! Gayle in MT PS Leigh, I can appreciate your opinion even if I don't agree. You are one of the people working hard to make sure this is a good list. Keep up your good sense of humor, and thanks for offering yourself to the rest of us. ;-)
Guest guest
Well, coming from someone who rarely posts, I get A LOT out of this group just by reading. I am an extremely busy person and sometimes don't even have time to get through all the e-mails on this list and am always WAY behind. Just wanted to let you all know that I appreciate all of your tips, suggestions and the inspiration you have given me! You guys are GREAT!!! -Michele in Denver c1w8d1 > >Reply-To: bodyforlife >To: bodyforlife >Subject: 1400 and some odd members,,,, >Date: Mon, 10 Sep 2001 00:32:53 -0000 > >It's a pity there are sooo many people on this list and only a >handful of them post. Guest guest
Hey, come on now! Just cause I don't post, doesn't mean I need to be deleted. I don't have time to get involved with all these conversations - I have a hard enough time keeping up on just reading. I love the information I get from this site, but come on... just because we're not posting doesn't make us second class citizens. We're not hurting anyone by just reading... -----Original Message-----From: Leigh Sent: Monday, September 10, 2001 9:56 AMTo: bodyforlife Subject: Re: 1400 and some odd members,,,,Send an email to all of those who are members. Just me thinking though.LBfl> How would you know who was just reading the list and not posting.

Guest guest
Are idle members using up server resources or anything? If so, purge the list. Otherwise, it will be a lot of somebody's effort, so if it's not hurting anything, just leave it! Jeanne
