Guest guest
Oh you and I would get along great!! I just finished going round and round with ATT BRoadband. A few well placed letters to the corporate office and the ville cable franchise manager seemed to do just the trick! I have a phone call coming today from the executive offices in CO! Guest guest
Bravo! , You are my hero. I spent many years in Customer Service and had great retention (I managed the staff of gym in Los Angeles). Now as I live clear across the country and work in an office, I have only experienced the customer side of customer service. I tell you, I don't go to many places because of the staff. I love your comments. -Memo Jen, I'm also big on customer service. That's part of what we pay for. I recently had a problem with my laptop and spent 3 MONTHS going between Best Buy and Hewlett Packard trying to get someone to fix it. They kept passing it off to the other company, saying it wasn't their responsibility. It finally took me going straight to the top to HP's CEO. I reminded her that she vowed to improve their customer service when she took over as CEO and that, in my opinion, it had gotten worse under her leadership. Within 5 minutes of sending my e-mail I got a phone call from HP who had a FedEx guy at my door that afternoon. I got my laptop back in perfect condition two days later! Still, I will never buy HP again. I shouldn't have had to go that far to get my problem fixed. And, of course, instead of giving them referrals, I'm warning people away. Great product, but the hassle isn't worth it.
Guest guest
Yeah ! Thatsa girl!! I am an extremely patient person and not one to go off on someone, but if my problem is not being dealt with, then I will stick with it until it's fixed, just like you. I love to hear stories like that. <smiling smugly> LOL Jen B. > Jen, I'm also big on customer service. That's part of what we pay for. Guest guest
Oh, I think AT & T Broadband has to be one of the most complained about companies in existence. Sprint PCS I've heard is pretty bad too. I've had some billing issues with both of these companies. They were corrected, but it isn't always easy. We had AT & T Broadband for our cable company for awhile and now it is MediaCom. Seems like it keeps changing. Still have the AT & T@home internet for now until they go bankrupt or someone else takes them over. We always joke here in Columbia that we have the worst service at restaurants. Actually, they aren't all bad. There are some good places, but seems like the service is worse than it used to be. The problem seems to be our low unemployment rate. Since 1993, the average has been 2% or less. In 1999 it was 1.2%. Not sure how last year was but in June it jumped to 1.9%. It's hard to find decent employees and you can't be choosey and you have to pay them well. I suspect it is the same poor service in other parts of the country where there are a shortage of skilled workers. Andyman > > Jen, I'm also big on customer service. That's part of what we pay > for. Guest guest
Yeah well ATT BRoadband is in HOT water with the City of ville. THey are having to turn in weekly reports about their volume of complaints and problems... and the city has been auditing them to make sure they are reporting the right amount. Complain calls a week are AMAZING! I wish I had another choice for cable. I live in an apt and am not ready for a sattelite dish, otherwise I would do that. ATT Came into JAX a while back (bought out MediaOne), fired all the MediaONe employees and thought they'd start over with their own employees... talk about making enemies! Now they're about to get run out of town... Big business.. *sigh* Amy > > > Jen, I'm also big on customer service. That's part of what we > pay > > for. Guest guest
People were mean to me when I lived in Missouri. As soon as they heard my accent their whole attitude changed. I also was accused of being snobbish a few times because of the way I dressed! Apparently, most Missourians only dress up to go to work, weddings and funerals. At least, that's what they told me. Here, most of us wouldn't be caught dead outside of the house in sweats, but I noticed a lot of people wearing sweats to restaurants like Applebee's in MO. Freaked me out! Funny how cultures differ. -----Original Message-----From: Andy Sent: Thursday, September 06, 2001 1:02 PMTo: bodyforlife Subject: Re: Customer ServiceWe always joke here in Columbia that we have the worst service at restaurants. Guest guest
.... Hmm.. I never thought much about that, but you're probably right (NW Mo here). I wear " athletic gear " out (I now hate sweats), and don't think much of it. I went through a really " dressy " phase where I wore a dress almost every day.. mainly cuz the dresses I was wearing were comfy. I was forever hearing ppl saying " why you so dressed up? " .. Umm... cuz you don't wanna see me naked probably! For the most part, ppl from MO are pretty nice folk. Wave at you on the road, hold open the door, etc. I'm not sure I'd trade this place Lana Re: Customer Service > > > > We always joke here in Columbia that we have the worst service at > restaurants. >
Guest guest
I saw the friendly folks when we went to Lake of the Ozarks on the weekends, but the people in Lee's Summit weren't friendly at all. Sounds like you'd fit in here, though. We wear dresses and heels to Univ. of KY football games. It's a tradition that all of the college kids get dressed up for the games. They dress pretty UNcasual even for class. It's usually khakis and a nice polo shirt or for the gals, something very preppy with flat dress shoes. You can always tell the freshmen or the out-of-towners that never conform because they actually wear comfortable shoes to walk around campus! And you should see us during the spring and fall at Keeneland... Dressed to the nines! It's fun, but the second I walk in my door I change into elastic waist shorts and a huge t-shirt. -----Original Message-----From: Lana Sent: Thursday, September 06, 2001 11:14 PMTo: bodyforlife Subject: Re: Re: Customer Service....Hmm.. Guest guest
Have you been to Columbia? It's not really in Missouri (yes, I'm being snobish), but people do dress however they feel like dressing. That is interesting. I wouldn't be caught outside the house in sweats either. People make fun of our accents here too! Had a sister-in-law that grew up in Kentucky and they were living in Missouri last year. She had a job interview in another city, not Columbia, and the guy actually had the nerve to say to her accent might be a problem. I never even noticed she had an accent. She did get the job though. Guest guest
I believe my step-sister went to college in Columbia for a few months. Columbia is in the very middle, isn't it? I know I drove through it when I drove back and forth to KY. They made a HUGE deal out of my accent, though. And, actually, I grew up in Lexington so I really don't have much of an accent. They're the ones that sounded weird to me. -----Original Message-----From: Andy Sent: Friday, September 07, 2001 10:02 AMTo: bodyforlife Subject: Re: Customer ServiceHave you been to Columbia? Guest guest
Yes, it is in the middle of Missouri between half-way between St. Louis & KC on I-70. We have University of Missouri, s College, and Columbia College here. A KY accent does sound like an accent to most people here, but not a big deal in my opinion. I like accents. I think the people up in northern Missouri have an accent. It probably sounds like everyone has an accent to us here since we are almost the middle of the country and everything kind of melts together with all the people moving here.
