Guest guest
My appointment with the hepatologist went well. My new liver is doing great, but I am having problems keeping my red blood cell counts up during this treatment. My hepatologist said my hemoglobin sucks...his exact words...lol. I might have to get two shots a week of Procrit instead of just the one I'm getting now. I forgot to ask him about folic acid. I should have written it down. My hepatologist said I'm weird because I am gaining weight on this treatment. He said most people lose weight on it. Not me. Some of it must be my under active thyroid. He said I should start eating a diabetic diet. My blood sugar is fine, but it would help me lose weight, I guess, and it will prevent getting a fatty liver, which he is a little worried about now because of my weight. I've never been this heavy before in my life, except before my transplant when I was filled with ascites fluid and edema. I don't have that problem anymore. He doesn't expect me to do much excercise while on the treatment, but he thinks I will lose all the weight once the treatment is over.
