I am now undetected and I have cirrhosis. I am on Pegasy and ribiverin. I am undetected now and had it for 30 years before I started treatment. It takes alot of doctors and work for me to be on it but I am doing it.

I have a friend who has Hep C and she did two treatments, but never became undetectable. The first one she did was the shots three times a week. The last one she did was the Pegasys like I'm doing now. I've heard that people who couldn't get rid of the virus can try Interfergen and Ribavirin, and I asked her if she considered trying that. She said the gastroenterologists she has seen said she is considered a "non responder" and don't think trying any other treatment would help. I suggested she go to see a hepatologist at the transplant hospital where I had my transplant since hepatologists are specialists of the liver, whereas gastroenterologists don't specialize in the liver. She also has cirrhosis, so I wouldn't trust our local gastroenterologists . She said she would go see a hepatologist at the transplant hospital to see what they say. It doesn't make sense to me to just quit because they say

she's a non responder when there are other treatments out there to try. Was just wondering what you all think.Thanks.Penny

They are working on new things, she really should check

with a more knowledgeable doc..If there is not a

treatment for her now, there could be one soon..

Or perhaps you could share the posts with her on

Alternative treatment, (Dr Berkson) many being helped

to live longer and better lives..

I think you have given your friend great advice. I am going to go through treatment again. I was a responder just didn't keep the virus at bay. It came back within 3 months of treatment.
