Guest guest
Hi Marie...I have been morbidly obese for most of my life. In April of 04 at nearly 400 pounds, I had a BPD/DS (biliopancreatic diversion with partial left side gastrectomy and duodenal switch.) This is different from the more common Roux-En-Y, and the lap band. For me, this has been a life saver. I am not any longer on any diabetes or high blood pressure and edema medications. My weight is 240 and I have 60 pounds to get to my goal of 180, As far as my Rheumatoid and Psoriatic arthritis, except for several short term flares, I have had the best year in a long time. I do a regimen of Humira and Metothrexate injections once per week. I believe the less weight my body carries has had a positive impact on these arthritis's, as well as the osteo I also have. At about 100 pounds overweight, depending on what your BMI (Body Mass Index) is, you might qualify for a bariatric procedure. I would encourage you to visit the following sights for information: www.obesityhelp.com<http://www.obesityhelp.com/> www.duodenalswitchinformationzone.com<http://www.duodenalswitchinformationzone.c\ om/> (this address may be outdated...please let me know if you have any difficult. At obesityhelp.com, there are sections on many different bariatric surgeries. They do have their biases and I encourage you to investigate all surgeries. What I can encourage you to do is RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH. It is a life altering decision, and only you can decide if you want/need to do this, and what type of surgery would be best for you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to write me of list. Hugs of hope... Tess
