An Update: Vertex Clinical Trial

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to update you on my treatment.

I have been in a clinical trial sponsored by Vertex. the drug in

cinical trial was Talapavere (spelling). I just passed week 24 but, I

am being removed from the study because I am not no longer

responding. Not sure about the details yet but will find out in a

couple of days. Also, don't know if I had the drug or a placebo.

I believe I still report to them for 6 more months for followup tests

before I go back to my Dr. to review my options. Which I think are

going to be find another clinical trial or wait until the FDA

approves one of the drugs in trial now.

I've never mentioned this before because I really don't want my job

to reflect this disease. I " m in the military and my doctor really

thinks I probably got this during basic training when I went through

the shot line. I " m sure it's possible because even though i grew up

in the 70's/early 80's, I never did any of the stuff that is high

risk but who really knows. Every day we're discovering new ways we

could have been infected.

Regardless, I've learned much about myself. We'll see where it goes

from here. Keep up the good work here. I don't post often but I learn

a heck of a lot from what people here do post.
