Guest guest
Hi everyone...Well, got my 5th shot down. Got my viral load results for 4 weeks yesterday. It went from 1,710,000 to 314,000. Doc called today and said that it isn't good enough. They expect you to clear at 4 weeks or at least down two digits. Sooo....she said that if I'm not under 17,000 at the 12 weeks then they will take me off of treatment. That was kind of a shock to say the least. I guess that is their way of preparing you? Any suggestions for what I could be doing better? Thanks all. Tricia
Guest guest
Tricia, hon, try not to stress this and keep on doing what you do,,, most docs believe you need to be undetectible or have that 2 log drop BY WEEK 12.... not by week 5,,, that may be something new that we've not heard about but still,, I didnt even get my pcr done for the first time after starting tx until week 12.. so please try to just let go of this stress and continue on and wait until week 12 before you even begin to worry about it... I've heard ppl stay on tx for 72 weeks because they didnt become undetectible until week 24.. there is still lots to learn about this virus,, but in any case,, I'd email dr. Ben Cecil and talk with him as he is the best, pro- hep c provider in the usa... give him all your info in an email and ask him what his suggestion might be... IF HE says that you should quit at week 12 if you are undetectible, then I'd listen to him,, he is one that I trust,, I emailed him and he helped me with knowing how long to treat my geno1a virus and his help with my doc made it so that I was able to reach SVR... when you write, put "URGENT" in the subject line,,, that way he will get to it asap... thats what I did and he never did not answer my emails... I will send his email to you off list as I think that he might not want everyone in the world emailing him ,, as he is very busy,, but since you are having a problem,, I would suggest you email him,, I've done so with others and he has always emailed them back and answered them.. dont give up,, the fat lady hasnt sung yet!!! you ARE responding to tx,,, maybe not as well as you'd have liked,, but still,, its not over yet,,,, just remember that Stress is not good for your liver.... hugs, jax Subject: New Viral Load resultsTo: Hepatitis_C_Central Date: Monday, February 2, 2009, 9:25 AM Hi everyone...Well, got my 5th shot down. Guest guest
Thanks Jackie for responding to my fears. I have calmed down a bit today and will continue to be positive. I, of course because I am a woman, thought that I just hadn't done enough...not drank pure enough water, not walked enough, not eaten good enough food. I, too, thought that the 12 week mark was when they determined whether or not you were responding to treatment. I am now believing that I just have a PA that doesn't have very good " bedside manners " . She even said " Well, at least it didn't go up " ..and laughed. I also want to thank Sheena for her encouraging words yesterday. My response to you hasn't been posted. Thanks again to all of you for helping me get through this.
