elle,

One idea,

They have kits with the pearls inside the clam. You take it (in a sealed

can) and open it and clean it. It comes with a silver steriling (some are

stainless steel. ) cage like, that keeps the pearl in it. I think very

appropriate for a little girl...I bought one for Christmas several years

ago.

and I know they sell them on ebay. Also the color of the pearl you get means

something...I've lost the card, but amanda still has the necklace. They are

12-20 dollars on ebay. Here is an example of one kind if your interested , I

got multiple hits by typing in wish pearl. It tells you to make a wish before

you open the can....I thought it was perfect for the little girl and what

your trying to do......

Elle,

I have no words of wisdom to help you. I just wanted you to know that

the love you and Gene shower on these precious children, fills my

heart to bursting.

You are in my prayers, my hobbit friend.

love

Nothing to add, but being named Pearl, I like what you are doing with the

shell and all. It so reminded me of my life. It was hard, but inside I am

actually a real softy and I have some Mormon friends who call me their Pearl of

Great Price, which is the name of one of their books. I grew up wishing I had

been named , Barbara, anything but Pearl, because I only went to school

with one Pearl. People always called me Jewel, Opal, Ruby and such.

I wish you well with your little Pearl of Great Price, she sounds like what

you both need.

God Bless, Pearl

Elle,

YOu have a beautiful soul! I agree, though, that what you are trying

to convey to " " is a complex concept for a seven year old. You

have to be careful she doesn't go away thinking she is ugly on the

outside. I remember thinking it was my fault my mom's first husband

died because if he hadn't, I wouldn't have been born from my dad, her

second husband. Backwards thinking.

What about something very simple: Sometimes when something bad

happens, something beautiful is inside? Something like that. She may

not understand the exact concept of an oyster due to lack of

schooling, but later she will treasure the memory.

I do like that Marta. I am worried about her thinking she is ugly.... In truth,

" " is a very beautiful child... probably to the point where it is actually

hurtful to her. She is listed amongst the children available for adoption in

New Mexico... but they have made her picture unavailable due to the fact that

people actually see how beautiful she is and fail to understand how troubled her

heart is and difficult her behavior is.

Thank you, Mel... for a LOVELY suggestion of the pearls on Ebay. I'll talk

to Gene... and we will probably go with one of these. I do have to be

cautious not to spend too much, because a small child may lose it... and an

angry child may destroy it! ;)

If I keep the price low enough (and these are ;) ... I can buy a new one to

replace the lost or destroyed one!

I thought it sounded perfect in your situation...BTW it's a sturdy

thing...Or at least the one I got . She has had it washed and dried so

many

times it is unreal and I noticed it on her dresser a little while ago in

perfect

condition.
