Guest guest
I've had so much trouble with the computer tonight getting page can't be displayed and such until I just gave up. The e-mail is working. For the rest I'll hope for a better tomorrow. We are on cable and usually things just pop up. BVan (Betty) YIKES. Guest guest
dreamer, I know it takes some getting used to, but I like the changes very much. First of all, the search feature is dramatically improved. For reading the messages at our group site, you have several options. Next to the heading " Most Recent Messages " on the home page, if you choose " View All, " you will be taken to a screen that will display all of the messages either grouped by topic or listed individually, sorted by date. If you come into the " Messages " screen and the posts are grouped by topic, but you would rather view them individually, simply click on " List as Individual Messages " next to the heading " Topics. " You may either choose to " Simplify " or " Expand " the individual messages or go back to " Group by Topic. " If you are viewing the simplified format, you may choose to " Show Message Summaries " or " Group by Topic " instead. If you are viewing the expanded format, you may choose to " Show Message Summaries " or " Group by Topic " instead. If you are still having trouble after experimenting with these options, please contact me privately, and I will try to help you. Not an MD I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
whew! :-) I am glad it is better for most people, LOL. The combination of s changes and Web TV is quite crowded, difficult and hard on the eyes. This morning, at least, YAY, when I click on a post I do now get the post. That was NOT what appened last nite at any of my . Last nite when I clicked on any given specific post, I got a LONG list (all run together with NO spaces or line breaks) of not just recent posts, but posts going way way back to 2003, 2004 etc. It was VERY strange. Thank you, and enjoy the enhanced features. :-) - In , " " <Matsumura_Clan@...> wrote: > > dreamer, > > I know it takes some getting used to, but I like the changes > very much. Guest guest
, I hope you don't mind this being a post. The problem I am having with the new format is that I find aggravating to delete " all the stuff on the bottom " when I want to retain a little of the post I am answering. I see it is being left on there by others. I have always highlighted the part I wanted to take off but I often get a box that takes some fiddling to get to remove and then often some of it is still left. Is there an easy way to do this? My problems last night had nothing to do with the new format. I don't know where the problem came from but it is better today. Guest guest
Betty, I'm assuming you are replying to the posts at the Web site. Shortcut key combinations may help. If you want to select and delete all of the text of a previous post, position your cursor inside the reply box and use CTRL + A (or right click and choose Select All) and then delete (use DEL or CTRL + X or right click and choose Delete). If you want to select and delete from where your cursor is to the end, use CTRL + SHIFT + END and then delete. Let me know if this solves your problem. Not an MD I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
, I am having all zillions of the post by e-mail. I tried what you said and it still leaves the box there. This is coming direct from the site. I don't know how this will arrive but the box that says " new message search " stayed. This problem is not on my other , just this one. Put your cursor inside the box that has the new message search and click. It changes from the cursor to a double arrow like the single arrow that you can pull and resize the box. But initially it is just 1 big box. You cannot type anything in it. From here I can click on that and it will highlight and so will delete the entire box. It is difficult to describe, as I don't have names for the parts except that in some way they are hyperlinks. If I mess around a lot with it I can finally get it all deleted except what I want to leave. I have been playing with this off and on since I got your post. Just now I saw an easy way to handle it with e-mail. Simple, just change the format to plain text. Magically the boxes disappear and what is left I can highlight as normal and delete it with the delete key or space bar, just like normal. Then I can change it back to rich text if I want to. Going between the 2 text is easy, just one click for each. I guess sometimes old dogs can learn something new. For being 73 years old I think I am pretty good with the computer, self taught with the help of my son and husband. Thanks for your help. I now have a workable solution. If you know about those box pass it on to me. I think they must be modules that are made like that to be able to handle individual parts. But initially it is just 1 big box. Guest guest
Betty, From your description, what I think you are doing is copying straight from the Web site page (and including some of the text and graphics boxes) instead of using the " Reply " feature. At the site, you should see the choice " Reply " listed just above or just below (depending on which way you are reading the messages) the message you wish to respond to. Choose " Reply " and then do your deleting. Write your response. Then hit the blue box labeled " Send. " The extraneous information and your E-mail program would not be involved then. Guest guest
, That's what I thought was doing. This is from the site and I don't even see the reply too that I was using. My has really been messed up recently and have not been using line with this new version. I like the way it now groups them and I probably will start going online.
