Guest guest
HI hon I wanted to answer this right away cuz I can surely see that you are very stressed about this. First off, take a deep breath.. you are NOT dying! Viral load really doesnt have all that much significance and it can vary like crazy... Most docs consider a high viral load anything higher than 2 million.. YOU are NOT over that number altho you are above a million,, Viral load really doesnt mean anything unless you're on treatment and it only can show if treatment is working or not. I've seen so many people who have beginning viral loads of 25 Million and more reach SVR or 'remission'.. same thing,, so please try to relax a bit.. I know its scary but you're gonna be ok,,, This virus moves through the stages of damge in DECADES,, not weeks or months... So,,, ok, your viral load is over a million and the log that they gave you is just another way of measuring the virus in your blood. When it shows that you should be below a number , in your case, you listed < 1.70 .. IF you were below THAT number, you'd be undetectible and would be clear of virus at least to that level. They do not have a test that can test down to a zero level.. the lowest test that I know of is the heptimax test which tests the virus down to 2-5 iu/ml which is international units per mililiter of blood.. its just a measurement. If you didnt have any virus, you'd only show that you were < 1.70 with THAT test.. Your viral load is significant in that you should have NO viral load.. does that make sense hon? What you need to do now is to get all your liver function tests done,ie: alt/ast, protime or INR, biliruben, etc, there are several tests and then you need a biopsy to see just what kind of damage you may or may not have at the cellular level.. an MRI or CT scan cannot tell truly how much damage you may or may not have,, only the biopsy can tell down to the cellular level.. The damage is rated in 'stages',, 0-1 is little or no damage and then there are stage 1, stage 2, stage 3 and stage 4 with stage 4 being cirrhosis.. then they also give you a 'grade' which tells you how fast it is moving with 0-1 meaning its barely moving or not at all, to grade 1, 2, 3, 4 with 4 being the fastest. You need to get all this info gathered before you can make any decision about treatment. You will need to know your genotype too which is the specific gene of virus.. it can be 1-4, there may even be more geno's ,, but most of us fall somewhere in the geno 1 geno 2, geno 3, geno 4.. then you will also be given a subtype of a or b.. I am geno 1a which is very difficult to treat.. but I did successfully and I've been undetectible now or in remission (SVR) now for nearly 6 years.. Please, we know you're scared,, but honey, take a deep breath, no you're not dying.. they say that most of us will die WITH this virus and NOT FROM It.. Start gathering up all your particular info about YOUR particular virus and how its affecting your particular body. Then you can make an educated decision about treatment (tx). Tx is difficult but doable.. and we'll be right here to help you through it all! I hope you will feel better now.. take a breath.. and whatever you do from THIS point on, you must NOT consume ANY alcohol in ANY form as alcohol makes the virus replicate twice as fast.. its like pouring lighter fluid on a fire... Start eating really healthfully, drink filtered water, take milk thistle and consult your doc before you take ANYTHING,, even over the counter meds have to be filtered through your liver.. Tylenol is still the safest for us to take for pain unless you're allergic to it,, but only up to 2000mg PER DAY... NEVER exceed that amount and DO NOT MIX it with alcohol... I have to run my mom home but Ill be back in a little while to check and see if you have read my post and if you have any further questions... remember, you're not alone anylonger, you have us! jax Subject: understand testsTo: Hepatitis_C_Central Date: Sunday, January 18, 2009, 1:46 PM hi all:I'm trying to understand my tests results. the hvc/rna/pcr/ ot is 1120000 (iknow thats viral load, but is that high? is that bad?) and hvc, rna, pcr, qt(log iu/ml) is 6.05. Guest guest
Hi! What kind of a puppy did you get? I LOVE puppies.. RNA (HCV RNA) test just determines the level of actual hepatitis C virus in the blood. The below chart might help you to understand a bit better.. Don't panic, have fun with that puppy! Hugs, Sheena Viral Load Equivalents per Milliliter (EQ/ML) Conversion to Logarithmic Form (Viral Load is how many viral particles per ML of blood) *[HCV-RNA (qPCR)-negative] is defined as less than 100 copies/ml of Hepatitis Cviral RNA as measured by the National Genetics Institute assay. 200,000 to 1,000,000 low1,000,000 to 5,000,000 medium5,000,000 to 25,000,000 highabove 25,000,000 very high What is Viral Load? Guest guest
Just wanted to say and add to what Sheena said. If the pain is unbearable you need to get to a emergency room hon. Could be a lot of different things. And I know the floating brain feeling. Kind of having that myself today. But then again I didn't get much sleep last night and worked today. Guest guest
, if you are feeling really bad hon, you should either call your doc, yes on sunday and or go to the emergency room. There are a lot of things that can cause pain in the liver area and it would be very hard to figure it out without the tests that an ER could do. Does it hurt where you had your biopsy? Please at the very least, call your own doc and tell him what is going on and see what he recommends that you do. ok? jax Subject: Re: understand testsTo: Hepatitis_C_Central Date: Sunday, January 18, 2009, 3:35 PM i don't feel so good guys, i have alot of pain in my upper right side i feel like my brain is floating, hard to concentrate any coments would be great sarah From: muffinator61 <muffinator61@ yahoo.com>To: Hepatitis_C_ Central@yahoogro ups.comSent: Sunday, January 18, 2009 3:46:36 PMSubject: [Hepatitis_C_ Central] understand tests hi all:I'm trying to understand my tests results. the hvc/rna/pcr/ ot is 1120000 (iknow thats viral load, but is that high? is that bad?) and hvc, rna, pcr, qt(log iu/ml) is 6.05. Guest guest
Your lucky if you get 15 mins of uninterrupted time with Doctors. I have better luck with the Nurses. So I had to learn what all these tests were about or just go along with whatever they tell you to do. I am a fighter so of course my choice was to learn and ask questions here and go to reputable websites on the internet. Now a little over a year later I can actually answer some questions. Yes that is a high viral load but that is not what your main concern should be right now. I had a very low viral load and I am End Stage Liver Disease where other people with twice as high as me had hardly any. The things you need to find out right now are what Geno Type you are, and what stage of liver disease are you at. Without this knowledge I can safely say its way too early to freak out. I am on treatment and have hardly any healthy parts to my decompensated liver BUT I am virus negative This means the HepC is not eating away at my liver and there is a chance, a very remote small chance, I could go for years before I need a liver transplant. I too just got an adorable Doberman Pincher who I am training to be my Service dog. Gads Dobbie,s are smart and it gets me out of the house around like minded people. She is cuddly and affectionate and on my bad days snuggles right up to me like she knows Mom just cannot take her to the park or throw her ball. Athena gives me the will and strenght to carry on this gawd awful fight with the Dragon She will be a Certified Service dog so if something happens to me I know she will have a wonderful loving home if they can pry her out of my husband hands LOL He knows what my wishes are and that is she is to go to a new handicapped person who will need her and love her as much as I do. -- In Hepatitis_C_Central , Sheena wrote: > > > Hi! > What kind of a puppy did you get? Guest guest
Call your Doc if you feel worse or wait it out, it's a choice. Can you take an otc pain reliever and maybe a nice cup of herbal tea might help you feel better.. If you still feel worse, you really should go to the ER.... Guest guest
well sarah, they can check your blood pressure, your pulse and respiratory rate, they can check your blood to see if you are becoming dehydrated and if your ammonia is too high, they can give you something for the dehydration if you are in fact dehydrated as that can make you feel woozy, and light-headed etc... they can help with the diarrhea to get it stopped and that alone might make you feel a lot better! jax From: Neal <sarahneal65@ yahoo.com>Subject: Re: [Hepatitis_C_ Central] understand testsTo: Hepatitis_C_ Central@yahoogro ups.comDate: Sunday, January 18, 2009, 3:35 PM i don't feel so good guys, i have alot of pain in my upper right side i feel like my brain is floating, hard to concentrate any coments would be great sarah From: muffinator61 <muffinator61@ yahoo.com>To: Hepatitis_C_ Central@yahoogro ups.comSent: Sunday, January 18, 2009 3:46:36 PMSubject: [Hepatitis_C_ Central] understand tests hi all:I'm trying to understand my tests results. the hvc/rna/pcr/ ot is 1120000 (iknow thats viral load, but is that high? is that bad?) and hvc, rna, pcr, qt(log iu/ml) is 6.05. Guest guest
honey, Sheena has just explained to you that we are NOT doctors here and it would be extremely irresponsible and reckless of us to even consider trying to diagnose what may be wrong with you. We've already recommended that you get yourself to the Doctor or the ER. We can offer no more advice than that. anne You don't have to be handicapped to be different.Everybody's different!Kim Peek [Hepatitis_C_ Central] understand tests hi all:I'm trying to understand my tests results. the hvc/rna/pcr/ ot is 1120000 (iknow thats viral load, but is that high? is that bad?) and hvc, rna, pcr, qt(log iu/ml) is 6.05. Guest guest
thanks jax. I did kind of freak out. I think it was when my ex husband asked if he was in my will - hadn't thought about dying till then. I'm not realy sure how long I've had this. I think maybe aroung early 80's, towards the end of my wild youth! Does lenght of time have any effect on the load count? In otherwords does it increase over time? BTW - I have trouble with this site in seeing and responding to posts. It's the only group/chat site I've been in so I may be doing something wrong. Thanks again - It certainly helps to hear from others who know. > > > > Subject: understand tests > To: Hepatitis_C_Central > Date: Sunday, January 18, 2009, 1:46 PM > > > > > > > hi all:I'm trying to understand my tests results. the hvc/rna/pcr/ ot > is 1120000 (iknow thats viral load, but is that high? is that bad?) > and hvc, rna, pcr, qt(log iu/ml) is 6.05. Guest guest
Hi I've only got a min before I have to run to the doc but Ill be back in a little while,, but no, length of time typically doesnt affect viral load,, I had it for 23 years when I found it and my viral load was less than a million and I had a LOT of damage.... and I know others who had it for 30-40 years with huge viral loads of 25 million and more who didnt have any damage.. so there is no way to know until you do a biopsy.. that is what you need to do in order to find out the real state of your liver tissue... tell your ex to shut his pie hole,, lol, and that you've cut him out of your will,, after all he is your ex for a reason, ,lol,, right? ok, gotta run everyone when they first join are on 'moderation' and sometimes it takes a little time before one of us sees your post and approves it.. We've had to do that because of trouble makers who would post things that start arguements, or try to sell things etc,, so that may be why you're not seeing your posts right away,,, or maybe you have your account set up to only recieve it one way ,, I dunnno, but I'll try to check when I get back,, gotta run, Im late, jackie Subject: Re: understand testsTo: Hepatitis_C_Central Date: Tuesday, January 20, 2009, 11:49 AM thanks jax.
