There are many things you can do to make it feel less endless

By involving your mind more, the time will flow better.

You can plan on how you will be approaching it (fulltime with shortened

movements or halftime with powerful/full range of movement movements or

quarter time to stretch or a combination to vary the intensity). You can plan

which of your favorite moves to insert when doing something you don't enjoy

and can even plan to spot stretch problem areas when repetitions get to be

overwhelming instead of just walking it out.

The more you involve your mind, the more stimulating the workout will become

Joya,

No it's not just you! Have you tried doing back to back basic

workouts? I like to do the warm up from the 1st tape then switch and

do the warmup from the second tape. Then do both workouts and then

do both cool-downs! For some reason that is easier for me sometimes

than doing the whole advanced tape! Maybe because the pace is a

little bit slower and you get a change of pace because of the 2

different workouts! Also, it helps to have both stretches at the

beginning and doing both workouts you still get an hour in!

Also, another suggestion would be to maybe start off by adding the 8

minute on to the end of your basic workout! That would be a good 45

minute workout and it might help get your body used to doing more

time than the 30 minutes! If you did that for a week or two and then

started throwing the advanced tape in once or twice a week, that

might help with your stamina and it wouldn't be so difficult to get

motivated!

Another thing you could try is to combine different parts of

different tapes! It might take a little preparation time in terms of

rewinding and fast forwarding the tapes so they are cued to the right

spot, but you could do 20 minutes of 3 different workouts! It might

help with the boredom aspect! Or throw some floorwork in at the end

of your basic workout!

It's just a matter of getting your body used to the full hour and not

letting your mind talk you out of it before you even start! Also, if

you have a clock that you stare at during the workout, maybe you

could take it down during the workout or cover it up so that you

don't " clock watch " the whole workout! It's always disheartening to

look at the clock and think " surely, this is almost over " and realize

you've still got a half an hour left! I do that a lot at the

WTC.....LOL!

Hope some of these suggestions help! Let us know how it's coming

along! I've never heard of the guy you were talking about, but I'm

definitely a big believer in the role of exercise in losing weight

and then succeeding at maintenance once you've gotten where you want

to be :) Good luck!

Joya, it might have been that your post didn't get sent out over e-mail. That

has been happening alot lately!!!!...

Sometimes if I really need some extra motivation I play my own music. I use

Ricky , The Matrix, Classic Rock etc.

Also, using a bag or adding challenges like kicking at a certain height

consistently, doubling all punches, doing jumping jacks when walks it

out help me...I'm so focused on meeting these challenges that time flies.

Which Advanced tapes do you use?

Hi Joya,

I really like all of the ideas that you have already been given. I

hope that one or all works for ya :)

Another thing different that I do when I'm not very motivated to

workout is do Tae-Bo in front of a full-length mirror. It's a good

way to see exactly how high your kicking and to 'literally' watch

your form. It really does make an hour fly by when I add a mirror.

Darcy - who knows exasctly what it's like when an hour seems

neverending...

Joya, may have hit on the problem. I don't know what TBTV advanced

you have, but there are some that are not particularly motivating. The

studio advanced can get tedious, too, especially since there are no real

songs. You may be ripe for purchasing some good live tapes. The music and

energy of a tape really can make a workout fly by. AL4, AL6, AL8, and AL11

are great tape for example and the time just flies by when you do them.

Joya,

Am just signing on after the weekend and saw your question. Is it a

particular tape you hve problems with or all the Advanced tapes? You might

try a few different tapes to see how you feel. Or maybe a tape with both

cardio and floor work to give you some variety. Another alternative might

be to do two basic tapes back to back.

Joya,

I definitely agree with Elena! If you only have the tb tv advanced

workouts, I would definitely recommend getting a few of the Live

workouts! There is a huge difference when you've got some good music

to help you through the workout :)
