Hey, . Many of us had trouble with water post-op. I would sip but it

tasted terrible. I finally switched to purified water as opposed to Spring

Water and found Diet Cranberry-Raspberry Snapple went down easily. I never

slept in a bed until forced to about week three on the way home to WA. I

mostly slept in my recliner until about two months out. It was really

comfortable. In the hospital and hotel the rented recliner was so huge that my

support

person had to help me get all the way back.

Don't worry about being whiney! I felt so self-absorbed that I made myself

nuts. All I thought about was myself. That too shall pass. I even learned

to be a back sleeper for the third month and now I can sleep on my tummy,

side, and/or back. I just spent Thursday and Friday nights on a blow up

mattress at my brother's house and it was comfortable. I have quit snoring, I

sleep

through the entire night and things are going great. I hated using the

breathing machine they give you in the hospital but I think I was just

passive-aggressive. Dr. K told me that the water was way more important than

food

those first few weeks. I would take a bite or two of things. I mostly had

oatmeal or cream of wheat with applesauce stirred into it. But, things do

improve. Just eat slow. I was a lucky one who did not experiece any pain with

the

DS. But, we all had that morphine button so who knows. I find there are a

few things that I do not remember clearly. The only time I thought maybe I

had made a mistake was about 15 seconds before they knocked me out. I remember

nothing about the OR or recovery room and only remember seeing my husband in

my room. In fact I don't remember waking up. Those must be some powerful

drugs. Hang in there and enjoy having someone wait on you. I also could not

concentrate to read or answer e-mail. I am sure that my IQ dropped in the

hospital. When I asked Dr. K about it he said that it did. He said I was

getting no sugar and that you need it to process thinking. He said he had a

Kit

Kat before every test and that is how he got through medical school. Pretty

funny, huh?
