Guest guest
Yeah ! Thats an awesome time! << ran a 5K (3.1 miles) on Sunday for the heck of it...LOL....it's supposed to help you predict your marathon time and I had never run in a race before so I decided to try it! I finished with a time of 24:15 which I was pretty happy with I just checked the official results on the website and I finished second in my age group (30-34)! Wow! I had no idea that I had done THAT well....LOL! The fastest time in my age group was 23:41, so I wasn't that far off of it Of course the fastest times of the women overall were 18:44, 19:52 and 20:48 and I'm no where near there....LOL! Of course, I don't aspire to be anywhere near there, either....hahaha! I just wanted to share my brag I'm pretty proud of my accomplishment! >>
Guest guest
, That's great! All your hard work is paying off. Guest guest
> > Way to go, ! Did you enjoy the race? Elena, I did enjoy it! It was only 3.1 miles and the day before that I had run 12 miles, so it didn't feel long at all! It brought out the competitive person in me a little bit! I kept playing games with the people in front of me, like " I can catch that person " and then when I passed them, I'd focus on somebody else to catch! And of course, at the end, I sprinted past like 2 or 3 people and that was fun! It was really fun to run with other people in a race type situation...they help push you along and give you something to try to keep up with

You have every right to be proud of your accomplishment. I really envy people who run. It is one of my little fantasies, me runing through a park with skimpy running gear on, and looking good in it! I think I would be a bit self conscious at the moment, running outside, but maybe once I get to the 200lb mark, I'll give it a go. Jay xxx Who at the moment couldn't get a skimpy running top over her left leg!!!

Guest guest
> I agree with Darcy....all this marathon talk has got > me interested (its always been a 'crazy' dream of mine) - I may just > be coming to you for advice someday! Jen, It was just a " crazy " dream of mine, too....LOL! I joined a Jeff Galloway group here in Nashville (lots of cities have a Galloway group) and the training schedule is actually very reasonable! We started training in November and the marathon is at the end of April, so it's a good 6 months of training. The thing that I like about it is that you only have to run 3-4 times a week and you cross train (Tae-Bo) the other 2-3 days! So, it's not like I had to give up Tae- Bo to run all the time! During the week you run 2 days (Mon and Thu) for 40-50 minutes, Tuesday you can run 20-30 minutes, but usually I do Tae-Bo instead and Sunday and Wednesday you cross train (Tae- bo), then on Saturdays you do your long run with the group. Friday's are your day off! The long runs started out at 3 miles and each week you add a mile until you get up to 12 (which we did last week). Then, every other week you go back down to half. Like this week we'll run 6, then next week we'll run 14, then 7, etc. Anyway, it's a really doable thing Of course, I say this now.....let me get back to you after I have to run 20 miles....hahahaha! who really likes having a fitness related goal to keep her on track
