Guest guest
I thought they were going to make Taebo impact a 4-pack set like the others. Hmmmm...I might have to call the 1-800 number. I will report back. << , WAAAAAHOOOO! I have my new standing bag and I am ready! Do you have any other info? On B & N's website there indicates a 2 pack or a single VHS tape. Seems the 2pack is being released Jan.9 while the single tape has a Feb 6 date. Do you think the 2 pack includes an instructional tape? I figure that maybe you have special ways to find out inside info?! Thanks. Hedy >>

Guest guest
Have any of you taken an impact class? LOL, I have. A few of us took Impact out in CA. It is a killer workout. It helped my roundhouse tremendously to actually land a kick. BTW I just have the cheapest one with the low base which is better for me when I want to kick low which is most of the time cuz I'm short LOL as far as punching, with the right gloves, you may be able to punch just not with as much power to avoid aggravating your carpal tunnel syndrome Barb who sleeps in a splint on the left wrist and had surgery on the right
Guest guest
Thanks in advance! Terri in NC In NC?? Where in NC? Welcome to the group!!! Impact is basically Tae-Bo with a standing bag. You punch and kick the bag, work on technique, etc. It is a lot more intense that Tae-bo. I love it.
Guest guest
How is the workout different? Why did you like it better? You know, inquiring minds want to know. Well, it brings a whole new dimension to the workout when you are landing punches and kicks. You have to really focus on what you are doing or you could get hurt. Impact is really intense. I like it better because there is less of the fancy footwork that trips me up in Tae-Bo. Impact is a lot closer to boxing, I think that is why I like it so much. The class almost killed me, but I'll bet the tapes won't be quite as bad! LOL! who is having a hard time explaining Impact...someone may do it better, LOL! Is there would be a way to modify the punching so you don't hit the bag but still use it for kicks and still get a good workout? Of course, I could just do the Advanced and Basic series but would love to try something new also. Colleen >> Colleen, I also have Carpal Tunnel (Thanks to being a flutist) and the bag doesn't aggravate me as much anymore. I don't know if you use a brace at all, but I wore mine when I first started to Taebo to really help me with the correct angle, now it seems as if my wrists and forearms don't absorb any of the shock at all, mostly It is absorbed in the biceps, shoulders and back. Maybe try throwing a few light punches that way to see if it helps. If not you could definitely use the bag just for punches. Sometimes I line my body up right with the bag and punch left hand to right side of bag (not hitting bag) and vice versa to make sure my punches are going across my body. But I also want to say that it is more " raw " and I don't know if that will make sense to anyone else. It feels good because it is like an innate human impulse to obliterate something. Instead of hitting air you are hitting a heavy bag or pad that gives in to your strength. My mind was almost in this battle ready state and I was mentally much more involved in the workout. Also you may find the wavemaster there for just $99 which is the same as the medium sized Tae-Bo standing bag. Guest guest
Colleen, Totally NOT dumb questions. My suggestion would be to go to an Oshman's or other sports equipment dealer and look at all the bags there and try them out. Even if you don't buy one there it will give you an idea. I think buying one there might be cheaper than through Taebo because shipping can be terribly expensive. I bought my bag at a flea market and I have seen a few others at flea markets in the papers, recycled sports stores etc. You'd want to get a free standing bag most likely but the other decisions are pretty much personal preference. Mine has a base that fills with water and I am in LOVE with it. I have a century Wavemaster. They make the bags with the Taebo name on it. (you basically pay for the name). YES! Use gloves, especially with your Carpal Tunnel. I use to use wraps with the big bulky boxing gloves, they actually aggravated my arms more then the small fingerless gloves with wrist wrap on it. I think this is because it is easier for me to control the punch and the glove pretty much forces you to use the correct hand positioning. << Thanks! It sounds like I can adjust and I still have hope that one day I will be 100% again...as I am slowly getting better. So...what bag do I put on my Christmas list...or birthday list..my birthday is the day after the release so I hope you guys have time for some reviews after you get the tapes <G>. I've already finagled a way to convert one of the already full spare bedrooms into a Taebo room with some creative maneuvering and we are moving within the year (but hopefully sooner!) and I already have " dibs " on a workout room <G> big enough for Taebo. Do all the bags work for impact? Do you guys have a particular bag you prefer? And this is a really dumb question, but do you wear gloves? Thanks for answering all the questions...I think I'm definitely addicted now!
