it's a small thing, but i'm VERY proud of myself and wanted to share!

i DID the 8-min.

i know ... all you 'die-hards' are snickering (<grin>), but u have NO idea

what a job it was to get my body to pay attention to and listen to my

'self-talk'.

my 'self-talk' WON .... and i feel energized, exhilirated, clean ('cuz i

showered) and DANG proud of myself!!

Better to feel energized and proud of doing the 8 (actually 15) minute

work-out than sluggish and guilty for not doing any

Barb

who got hooked to Tae-Bo thanks to the original 8 minute work-out

, believe me, no die hard is snickering. Everyone started and many

went back to the daily torture stage. This is where your body and mind has

either not yet fallen in love with exercise or is in a serious lovers

quarrell with it. Today was an unscheduled off day for me, because my body

seemed to be satisfied with walking two miles to the library and 2 miles

back. (Being a non-driver this is like a walk to the mail box). The thought

of working out was akin to that early torture stage. We all are reminded of

it on occassion.

Maybe try 10-15 minutes of a basic tommorow? Or try what I do on really rough

days, split the tape in two. Do half in the morning/early afternoon...the

other half later in the day. Breaking it up like this keeps your mind from

getting bored, gives your body a chance to acclimate and its easier to digest

when your will is just not there.

Here are some ways I get myself psyched up for exercise:

1. Turn on the music, loud and fast paced (but not loud enough for me to get

the Apt. manager on my case). Maybe a song that is guarenteed to make you

dance a little bit?

2. Take a walk outside if the air is cooler. Nothing beats this as far as

waking up the body and mind.

3. I am a magazine-aholic. I keep Shape and Self magazine EVERYWHERE. They

guilt me into exercise. I always have a copy in the bathroom since thats

where I spend the most time thanks to all the water I drink and my teeny

bladder.

4. I have a rule. With an exception of a half hour a day, whenever the TV is

on I am doing some kind of exercise or at least exercising during the

commercial breaks. I have one of those inflatable exercise balls (which are

so much fun) hand weights and 3 different ab gadgets to play with. My husband

has compared me to a gerbil on a wheel when I have my toys out.

5. Turn on ESPN, sometimes figure skaters and the like can be veyr

motivational. I feel like a big sissy for wussing out on a half hour or hour

long workout when these people are physically active 5-6 hours a day. Just

don't try to watch football, car racing or sumo wrestling for inspiration.

When time is a problem. Work to incorporate exercise into your daily routine.

When I was in Marching Band during the season...we were swamped. I would do

calf raises while brushing my teeth. Sit ups in the morning upon rising.

Squats while talking on the telephone etc.

Congrats on the 8-min! Which is really more like 15. Remember that feeling of

accomplishment. That will be your best motivation.

You are awesome!! Way to go! As someone who is nowhere near diehard

and was just struggling to get through the 8 minute tape 6 short

weeks ago, I sincerely congratulate you!! At this moment, I'm doing

a modified (nod to Barb :-) Tae Bo cheer for you!! LOL

Jen

Who's sister is a cheerleading squad coach and was making me practice

cheers with her tonight - hence the whole Tae Bo cheer reference! :)

, Great point!

,

Another little ditty to add - says in BL2 that even if you do

only 2 minutes of the workout but you do it strong, that's what

counts.

Hey - we all gotta start somewhere! Good for you making it through!
