It makes a huge difference to me washing and not washing the butter milk out,

both in the way it keeps and the way it tastes. If you have any questions what

to do, try it both ways and you will see if it makes that much of a difference

to you.

I never wash mine. I just keep pouring off the buttermilk till it's gone if I haven't squeezed most of it out.

Should be fine the way it is.

What kind of mixer do you have?

Butter

Ok after all the butter making discussion I finally tried to make some myself. I just got cream on Tuesday from my local farmer. This is very thick cream. So thick that you have to spoon it out of the container. I took about 1/2 qt and used my hand electric mixer. I was kind of scared based on all this discussion. I didn't let it get warm at all. I used it right out of th fridge. I blended for less than 5 minutes when it seperated. I couldn't believe it. I thought that was too easy. I didn't wash with water. I totally forgot that part LOL. I salted it a little and blended for another few seconds. My family liked it. I frozen half so that it wouldn't go bad. Should I go back and wash it with water? Will it really make a big difference? I froze it in 1 cup containers so that it would basically be a daily serving each when I defrost it.
