Especially around the time of my period! Mel http://hometown.aol.com/mdl1031/
Guest guest
Hi Marla~ Thanks for sharing your experience with me. I've thought about not telling her at all, but it will be obvious when I start losing the weight and then I think her feelings will be hurt. I have to figure it out though because I'm gonna do it either way. Congrats on your surgery and your wieght loss. Jenni tamarac42@... wrote: The advice Kristy and Jim gave is great. However, this is the experience that I had with a friend of 36 years. We were both overweight. We tried every diet together. When I told her about the DS she was extremely negative, viewed it as a sign of failure, and discouraged me from having it. Even though I had researched it and knew she was wrong I let it sidetrack for 18 months. Fortunately, we moved a couple months before my surgery date and it took her some time to track me down, so I did not have that added pressure. We left a forwarding telephone number on our old phone. She called in March and asked me where we had disappeared to as the last she remembered we had put our house up for sale. I told her we had been in California. She immediately knew I had the surgery. Since then she has bombarded me with questions and has acted really depressed as all her overweight friends have lost a lot of weight in the last year. She is the last chubby person left of her social group. I think of her as my fair-fat friend as opposed to my fair-weather friend. (Any one over fifty will understand the meaning of that.) Do I think it will change our relationship? Yes! Was I warned in the manual that would happen? Yep! Did I allow her to affect me, yes. Was it my fault, yes. Be strong and do what is right for you. I just preferred not to take any more heat from her and I took the easy way out and didn't tell her the surgery date. Good luck! Nick and Kristy: How fast is fast in eating. I eat more quickly than I think I should but know exactly when to stop. I never feel uncomfortable. But, I still don't eat very much. I ordered a small crab louie last week and ate the crab off the top and 1/2 the boiled egg and took the rest home. I had two eggs this morning with cheese but did not have anything else. This is the first time I have had 2 eggs. Usually I have 1 egg, 1 1/2 pieces of turkey bacon. I would kill for a diet Pepsi but know the consequences so have not done that. I know Tammy eats really, really slow. My food would be cold if I took that long. I am not up for cold eggs. It is admirable but I can't do that. Has anyone bounced up 1.5 lbs. when they still are doing everything right? Marla DS: 2-9-05 -57 lbs.

Guest guest
Marla, my " bounce " can be as much as 20 pounds in 2 days. It has to be water retention, but it's a bounce nevertheless.
