Guest guest
Hey everyone, I'm back from Minnesota and had a good trip..missed my Taebo however, but enjoyed my rest too..was very watchful of my eating habits..as when I'm away from home it seems I'm hungry 24/7 for some reason..this time however I was smart and packed good/healthy foods instead of the typical bags of doritos etc!!! Even at the restaurants I was a good girl so that felt great..Tomorrow we are having our weight machine delivered and set up along w/ our bench and dumbells...the machine is cool cuz it has 2 weight stacks so I can be working an area and my husband can also be working an area at the same time..I hope we put it to good use.. Tonight was a stitch..I went thru the instructional video w/ my husband..unfortunately my girlfriend has the better one so I had to use the original studio one which isn't as good..but we did it..I think my husband was getting frustrated at the moves..and then frustrated with me..I was having a hard time doing the moves so slowly (imagine that)..but we made it thru without killing each other..My husband is 6'5 so its a little harder for him to squat and do some kicks, not to mention he hasn't done much in the form of exercize..Barb, you would be proud..I keep hearing your voice in my head and I kept tell my hubby..Honey, you can modify any of these moves as long as your up and moving thats a good thing..My husband isn't overweight but wants to lose that little tire around his waist and build up the ole pecks a bit..anyways, it was good.. Just wanted to pop in and say hello..Pat enjoyed reading about your toronto experience..hello to everyone.. Kathy

Guest guest
Kathy, Welcome back, glad you had a good trip. Congrats on your hubby wanting to do Tae-Bo! My hubby is FINALLY getting the itch to do it as well. His eating habits are starting to catch up with him and he's starting with a tiny spare tire. My hubby also got frustrated with the instructional and quit 5 minutes before it was over! LOL! I told him to keep practicing with it because he won't master it after one time of doing it. I also keep reinforcing that it will help his weak back muscles, something I KNOW will help him. Guest guest
Kathy, Yeah, these poor guys! I think my hubby, Bob, may feel like he's so behind in the moves too. I keep telling him that there's no better time than the present to get started. I think it'd be cool to for him to workout with the gang the next time visits QVC. He's so cute though, he'll try to mimic the moves when we talk about Tae-Bo. Then I demonstrate it for him and tell him what the move is actually doing when you tighten certain muscles. They've got it pretty easy though, we didn't have anyone to coach us along when we first started. ;-) Ann Marie > In a message dated 11/14/00 8:22:14 AM Central Standard Time, > ann.marie.kleiber@w... writes: > > << My hubby > also got frustrated with the instructional and quit 5 minutes before > it was over! How did you all convince your husbands?? >> , I didn't convince my husband..since I've done Taebo I've talked about it..but I think the biggest motivator to get up off the couch was the results I was getting and that he could visually see..I don't know if Taebo will stick with him, but we just got our new weight equipment so either way he is determined to get back into shape and lose the middle tire and build some muscle back up..He did do the studio basic w/ me tonight and I was soo proud of him that he hung in there as best he could..the kicks we a bit hard right now (understandable) but the punches he was going right along..he really worked up a sweat..and we had fun together..We both just kinda decided that we are tired of being tired..of working all day and coming home exhausted and flopping in front of the boob tube and then going to bed..of eating all the fat filled foods etc. I've been on my more healthy kick since mid summer and I just think he is realizing that he wants to join in for many reasons..I sometimes forget that men also deal w/ body issues..Maybe they aren't as verbal about it as we women are, but I don't think most men particularly like to have a flabby outa shape body either..anyways, just keep up your healthy routine and be a role model and maybe eventually he will just catch on and want the same for himself... Guest guest
, It wasn't easy! LOL! I never really pushed him to do it, I simply periodically dropped suggestions that it would help him with his back problems. His weight recently started catching up with him and I keep stressing to him to not let it get out of hand like I did. Once you put the weight on, it's a struggle to take it off. He started taking an interest out of the blue just recently. After doing dozens of weight videos, I have been able to help him with his form and stretching alot and what a physique he is getting!!! Just like Tae-Bo, to me the key to successful weight training is variety so experiment, keep what you like and replace what you don't like. always start light and add weight if you do not find a burn between 8-12 reps try to do 2 different types of lifts for each muscle group and even rotate those moves with others to work the muscles differently eventually and ultimately, you can pyramid 3 sets of reps lightest weight for 12 reps, then heavier weight for 10 reps then 8 reps for heaviest weight but try to create resistance in both directions isometrically. for variety, you can use Tae-Bo as a warm up and interval, pausing to work on a body group make sure you check your library and video store for work-out tapes cuz to buy them when you are just starting out and not sure what you like can be a real expensive waste I enjoyed renting one or two a week and doing different ones at minimum expense now I pretty much do my own routine with some cueing from favorite work-outs Barb whose son suggested making our own video work-out with our crippled video camera (has to be plugged in cuz all batteries won't recharge)

Guest guest
Kathy, Great news on your quest to give up the smokes! You're going to do fine because you've got the determination to make it work this time. That's the key when you really want to accomplish something. Congrats on your family workout time. That's great! Good for your hubby on Tae-Boing on his own. Bob's still working the instructional a little at a time, which is a good sign.
