Guest guest
Just thought I'd add my thoughts to the recent thread--I was mentally and physically abused by my grandmother, and beaten and sexually abused by an older brother. My brother and his wife went on to abuse their older son, who now is in and out of prison. My father was an alcoholic, who deserted us when I was 7. Somehow I managed to develop a positive attitude as I grew up, and God blessed me late in life with a wonderful, gentle, understanding husband who has more than made up for the early years of my life. I think the hardships have made me easier to please, with fewer expectations that are unreasonable, and more empathetic to those who suffer. It has also made me able to accept having a rare and (at the present time) incurable, progressively debilitating disease (Dercum's Disease.) I have met so many wonderful people through this illness that I would not have met otherwise, and I am so grateful to you all! Judi
