Joe,

I was hungry often. Felt like I was starving, which of course I was.

LOL! That is the whole point of the surgery. After a time, you will

get used to small portions and wont' feel so deprived. I never kept

track of my eating, only protein grams.

No, Joe, just eat until you are ALMOST satisfied/full. Then back off. Never

eat until you are actually full--stop before that point. Trust me on this

one!!

Joe:

None of us can give you any more than our own experience. The final verdict

must come from Dr. K's office. So while you will certainly get plenty of

advice, I would first recommend you call the office. No charge. That's part of

what you paid that honking big program fee for.

It's really good that you are feeling hungry now since some of us have a long

period before our stomachs heal enough to really feel that. But understand that

hunger can be a false feeling as well. Our poor stomachs have been seriously

screwed around with and are really confused as to what signals they should send

to the brain. So at first especially, when you are hungry, eat. And realize

that 5 to 7 small meals are better than 2 or 3 large ones. Just be careful to

stay from the simple carbohydrates (sweets) and concentrate on proteins. Good

snacks are jerky, nuts, cheese or whatever you can tolerate which contain

protein.

As far as weighing and measuring food, it really isn't necessary unless you are

like me and tend to lie to yourself as to how much you've eaten. And remember,

unlike our mothers taught us, a clean plate is not a virtue. Getting " to go "

boxes at restaurants and scraping food into the trash is okay. No Indians,

Chinese or the nationality of your mother's choice's children will starve.

Congratulations on your new life. You will truly be amazed at how fast things

will begin to happen now.

Regards.

Do I need to measure all my foods and keep a record?
