Medicare Drug Cards

Have any of you tried to sign up for a card? I've tried to look at the info

from Medicare.gov and don't understand any of it. Prices they list for meds

I take aren't even close to my full price at the pharmacy. If there's a

secret to it, I'd like to know. Sometimes I'm amazed at what we have thrown

at us under the guise of help. Well, maybe my attitude needs adjustment. ;)

it is really confusing. i am also on the state circuit breaker. they have

narrowed it down to 2 companies. if you do not choose one of those. they will

not cover. i have to be denied for extra help from medicare first. i got my

letter asking for more info yesterday and i have until 12/5 to get it back to

them. i am very confused and not sure how it will effect me. also pretty

scared.

Dennis, I think everyone who is having to make this decision is having

a hard time. I am also amazed. I'm sorry I can't help you except to say

your attitude is fine, but the attitude of insurance companies could

use some adjustment. Fortunately for me, my state supplementary

insurance will continue to help me pay for my medications. I am so glad

I don't have to wade through that chaos. Sue

I can handle just the mechanics of signing up for one of the cards, that's not a

problem. My concern is some of what I found while researching the plans. Most of

us old folks might not notice any of it and think we're getting a great deal.

For instance, I get 5 mg Prednisone, 100 count, for $7.87. The same amount of 1

mg cost $25! Quite a difference, but I know that already and it's not my

problem. My problem is the different prices for the same med from the different

plan participants. I compared 3 of them and found that the same quantity of

Prednisone cost from $23 to $90+ for the same quantity. I can see it now. A poor

soul that never saw a computer in his/her life has to make a decision like that?

The other option is a 'telemarketer' to talk to on the phone? I don't blame

folks for being confused. I guess it's time for " full disclosure " . I wonder what

happens if I don't choose a program...
