Guest guest
Shanna, (and Debi) I lost my oldest daughter to some form of mental illness when she was 20. We now suspect she was un-diagnosed with bi-polar disorder. She had an argument with her husband while drunk and (oh, gawd, this still hurts so much to type) she killed herself in the midst of it. I guess I'm on the when-in-doubt-medicate bandwagon. I honestly believe if she had been diagnosed and treated, and medicated.well, I believe she'd be here now. And I'd do anything to change time. So what if it's medication for life. It's alive. Doreen Re: back on SSRI Melinda, Hugs to you! And may you get the lift from all of us here on the list. Silent ones included! Debi, I understand your plight totally. I have my 18 yr old, Bi-polar, that I have struggled with the meds issue back and forth and I am convinced there is no more struggling out there. The meds help her. For those who do not know me, she is my 2nd child. She has type 1 diabetes also. You and Allie will be better for your decision. Not to mention the rest of your family! Guest guest
Doreen, I know your post wasn't to me, but may I say how sorry I am for your horrible loss. My heart goes out to you. Guest guest
Doreen... I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter. So sad. The mental health suicide rates are huge, and it's even worse when you hear about it affecting someone personally. My deepest condolences. May I borrow your words on 'So what if it's medication for life. Its alive'? I work on a website that deals with medication FOR mental health issues and we have a lot of people who hesitate to help themselves because of that very issue. Again, so very sorry for your loss. Guest guest
Thank you Kassi and all others for your words of comfort and sympathy. (absolutely use whatever words will help someone...my tag line on another site is " suicide is the result of a fatal mental illness " ) I had Kris when I was 19, and then my twins when I was 36. So my kids were over 17 years apart. I guess I don't make girls well. My son, Darby's twin, is as NT as you can get. Hence, this is one of our reasons for adopting to complete our family. I just am too afraid to have more biological children. If I ever get comfortable with the level of support & services children and adults who have autism receive, my next task will be mental illness awareness. Wishing you all a good day, Doreen Re: Re: back on SSRI Doreen... I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter. So sad.
