Nana, than you so much for your ideas. I remeber now I used to use Vitex back in

the bad old days and it was helpful. I also used natural progesterone cream and

I'm definitely going to look into that for . I used to use something called

ProGest which was the suggested cream at the time. I don't know what's out there

now. You really feel she should be tested first and have it rxed? I suppose that

would be the sensible thing to do. She is so red and raw this AM. Poor kiddo.

Thanks for your help.

Sherry

<<Have you tried Vitex agnus castus?

It is a herb that is regulating period problems. It helped me a lot

when I had chronic cystitis on my breasts, it was so painful, I wanted

to have them removed, but with the tincture (it has to be taken in a

drink of water or juice) it was getting better. Another thing is maybe

her progesterone levels are too low, and for this, the gyn could

prescribe a salve that has to be applied on the breast during the 10

and 27 th day of the cycle.>>

Hi ,

What are the benefits of maca root and how have they helped you

and your daughter, if you don’t mind sharing?

Thanks!

Hi Diane,

You're right that I haven't really made any definite decisions about

that yet -- Lord knows I've got enough to worry about as it is! --

since there are many options and variables to consider when the times

comes. BUT... going on the premise, as you suggested, that if I

were going to give her some form of contraceptive pill, I would most

likely choose one of the lower dose tri-cyclic pills, such as Ortho

Tri-cyclen Lo. and I are very much alike and I suspect that,

like me, she will have an early cycle. After much experimentation, I

did very well on the tri-cyclic pills, as long as I took them with

food and at the same time each day. I had no side effects whatsoever

taking them this way. Hopefully, I won't have to deal with this for a

few more years! One thing that I already do and will continue to do

is give maca root, which helps through every cycle of life, pre-

pubescence through menopause. I take it myself and it makes a world

of difference.

I had very cystic breasts and they would hurt terribly every month until I

started using natural vitamin E supplements. It made a world of difference

to me.

For years when I ovulated I was in horrible breast pain. It was just

like early pregnancy for me. I did it up until I had my first child.

Now once in a blue moon my breasts will hurt, other than that I don't

experience it any more. I don't recall whether or not any sort of

birth control pill helped or not.

Hi there, . Happy New year!

Maca acts as an adaptogen, which is essentially a tonic, increasing

the body's ability to adapt to environmental and internal stress by

balancing the endocrine system, which in turn affects all other body

systems. Since it does this at the body's own speed and not like a

drug or artificial hormone, it takes some time to build up and things

change gradually, but always in a positive direction. It will cause

various changes, depending upon a person's age and gender. For me,

I've had some problems with progesterone imbalance as I've aged and

I've also had to survive on much more stress and 3-4 hours of sleep a

night since was born. The maca gives me more stamina and

endurance, more energy, better mood and no more mood swings, no

cramps or backaches or headaches during my periods, and I just feel

more balanced in every way. For , is has given her better focus

and concentration, less hyperactivity and she just seems to be more

" present " , if you know what I mean. I am hoping that it will keep

her balanced through puberty and we won't get increased aggression

and some of the other issues that often accompany hormonal changes.

It sounds like a wonderful product, , something that would definitely

benefit my daughter. I think I may have mentioned this to you before,

starting out on glycine, then switching her over to TMG was the best

thing we ever did when she was going through the initial stages of puberty

and all the aggression, mood swings and meltdowns popped up. It might be

something to keep on your agenda when starts going through puberty.

I'm going to check with my local HFS for the maca.

Happy New Year to you and yours!

I dont know about the being tested, I was not tested (blood tests for

hormonal balance), they made an ultrasound of the breasts, saw the

cysts and prescribed the cream. It is called Progestogel, and I am not

sure if it is only here in Germany, but it has to be prescribed, you

cant get it without a recipe from your doc.

Maybe there is something like this you can get without prescription.

You just need to make sure the balance between estrogen and

progesterone is so your daughter can handle it.

for the being red and raw, is it because she keeps rubbing and hitting

the areas? or is it from something different? I hope she is not having

any yeast infections on her skin. That would have to be treated

differently.

For the skin probs I would try to use dexpanthenole (it helps the skin

heal, and moisturizes, and soothes).
