Guest guest
I haven't even started on all of the meds yet and my hair is falling out. This morning I got up to discover I had a mowhawk! I went to bed with all my hair the same length and woke up with the top 3 inches long? Will the RA alone damage my hair? After crying half a day and spending some time at the beauty shop I know have a new short hair do!
Guest guest
I lost all my hair in about a month. I eventually had the last few scraggles shaved off. It ended up being caused by a really bad lupus flare. For awhile I had only hair on my right side...that ended up coming out too. I could always predict a really bad " spell " when clumps of hair came out in my hands...within a day I had severe joint pain and swelling, seizures, etc. I figured that at least it gave me warning . I got a pretty decent wig for about $40, then another $25 to have it cut, and it looks better than my real hair . I have to wear a brim outside, but inside I also found these hats...they are really cute, and by changing the band are versatile, too... www.domadesigns.com I ended up on a high prednisone dose, and have about 1/4=1/2 inch all the way around except for a 4 inch spot on my right side that is just coming in...I have a couple of dime-sized spots within it that refuse to grow, but the pred. really helped. There are also some topical steroid lotions that help bring it in, too. They can give shots to your scalp, but those are only about 40% effective and hurt like the dickens, from what I understand. Thanks, but I'm getting into the wig and hat thing....don't need any more pain than I'm already in. Good luck....it takes some adjusting (I absolutely freaked out at first), but you can really have fun with it, you know?
