Anita,

Welcome to the group. I was in methotrexate pills and then injections. Try

taking it at bedtime so you sleep through the nausea. Also pick a dose day

that you can sleep late the next day. I know that is hard with little ones

running around. Also talk to your doc about folic acid if you are not taking

it

or increasing the daily dose if you are already taking folic acid. There is

also a drug called Leukovorin that is also used to help with the side

effects. This may also be an option.

I had terrible nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, mouth, eye and throat sores all

over from methotrexate and eventually gave up on this drug...but it works

wonders for may others with minimal side effects and some here had NO side

effects beyond feeling a bit fatigued the day after you take it. I would

encourage

you to talk to your doc about your side effects...

I have never taken remiciade. I know its an IV infusion that you have to

take at the docs office and it takes 3-4 hrs . I am sure others will fill you

in on the details that are taking it.

Subject: hello new member

My name is Anita and I am a 34 yr. old SAHM of 2 human kids, 3

furbabies and 7 aquatic babies. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and

RA over a year ago. It did not show up in my blood work then but did

in my x-rays. A couple of weeks ago my knee swelled up and hurt so bad

I could hardly walk. My RA doctor did blood work again and it is

showing up in my blood work now. I have it in all my small joints and

my lower back and neck. The dr. also drew some fluid and sent it out

to be tested and we are awaiting the results for that. I should have

that hopefully on Monday. My dr. upped my medication from 4

methotrexate a week to 6 a week now and is sending me info on Remicade

injection. Anyone here on the Remicade injection? How does it work

for you and could you tell me your experience with it? I hate the

methotrexate. It makes me so sick to my stomach even when I eat

something. I look forward to talking with everyone and getting to know

you all.

Take care,

Anita

Welcome Anita,

I am sorry about your diagnose, but glad you found the group. It is

a great place to be, lots of wonderful people. I have been on

methotrexate for awhile, but have recently stopped. It does have

some nasty side effects. The methotrexate injections suppose to have

less effects. I have never taken Remicade, but it's not an

injection. It's done through infusion IV. Someone can tell you more

about the med, that has taken it. I am looking forward to knowing

more about you,......hugs Tawny
