Guest guest
Hi I'm Sherry and was on this list for quite awhile in past years. My dtr is 17 and has both Down Syndrome and Autism. I have read the archives looking for an answer to our current problem and need to continue to read all that you have posted re:BC pills and periods. After years of fighting it we started her on Seasonale this month 21 days ago and she is having the same symptoms as she did before....severe cramping, pain, severe aggression, screaming etc. I keep being told that we won''t be seeing any improvement till at least 3 months but my dh and I just now decided we've had enough. This is too dangerous. She had some sort of weird shivering spell this AM. Anyway even before the pill but moreso these past couple of days her breasts (very tiny) are driving her crazy. She keeps trying to rip them off her chest, smashing them and yelling, then twisting and pulling. Tylenol has helped; Tonight I brought out the tylenol with codeine as she is in terrible pain. I don't feel anything there...it's as if her breasts are just starting to grow now and I know that was troublesome for me when I was little but this is just horrible! Have any of your daughters experienced this? And what have you done about it? She is very lowverbal and functioning and all of her terrible aggressive behaviors have returned with a vengeance every time she is due to get her period which happens every 23-27 days. She zones out and her IQ must drop 30 points for a week or more then she snaps back once she gets her period. This is why we finally decided to give the BC pills a try. But after today I've had it. I just gave her one tonight and I wish I hadn't. The poor little kid is only about 90 lb and 4'6 " - looks like a 10 yo but has had her period for 7 years. The mess is a pain in the butt but I'll deal with that...I just want her to stop hurting and hurting herself. Her little nipples are red and raw and I feel so helpless. Thank you for letting me share my woes without a proper introduction. If anyone has any thoughts for us please respond. Thank you so much.
