My cousin wet the bed until he was 12- we think that was when his bladder grew

to a size appropriate for his age - he was dry at almost all other  times-

don't know if there might be any other connections to OCD tho.  BTW he's 56 and

has been fine since age 13

My dd9 can control urination during the day, unless she gets laughing hard and

dribbles, but she still wears training pants at night...and wakes up wet at

least 25% of the time. Her pdoc isn't worried about it, but it has concerned

me...and now embarrasses her with friends. She has told a few of her best

friends, the ones she can now tolerate sleep-overs with, so she is coping. But

I've always wondered if there's a connection to her diagnoses. She just sleeps

so heavy, is what we think.

Hi all,

We did take Lynn in to see the pediatrician after about 5-6 days in a row of

either daytime or nighttime accidents. She had to give a specimen and be

examined. Fortunately, I had given her Ativan just before we left for the

doctor, but it was still very difficult for her. She had had a yeast infection,

which is now gone, no sign of UTI or diabetes. It really looks like it is just a

combination of extremely delayed urination (due to washing avoidance) and high

anxiety as this problem will come in spurts and then disappear for a while. For

example, she told me shortly before we had to leave to take her sister to school

that she would use the bathroom in 20 minutes. I pointed out that we would be

leaving then, so she needed to do it in 5 minutes at which point, she claimed

she could wait until after the doctor's appointment (an hour or two later).

Pediatrician suggested giving Benadryl at night as it could help if her bladder

was irritated. I haven't heard of this use before and she didn't really explain,

but it appears to be helping a bit.
