You may want to ask your healthcare provider if it could be posterior

tibial tendinitis (I had it) which requires a walking cast so the

tendon can rest and heal. My podiatrist diagnosed it. If the tendon

ruptures it can be a very serious problem...do get it checked out (or

get a second opinion). My podiatrist recommended using an ice pack on

the ankle and wrapping it in an Ace bandage for support. There are

ankle supports you can buy in the pharmacy, as well. Good luck!

You should talk to your doctor about support for your ankle. If it's

giving way, you could

injure your ankle further. I have RA in my ankles and they used to

give way a lot. Now

they are permanently fused and have no side to side motion anymore,

so at least I don't

have to worry about them giving out anymore.

Please talk to your doctor.
