Guest guest Posted March 23, 2010 Report Share Posted March 23, 2010 Hello. My name is Bri and I have 3 young kids. Two of them, ages 6.5 and 8.5, most likely have OCD. I've been reading posts on this list for awhile and they describe my kids to a " T " . My question is: my kids also have traits common to children w/asperger's (my 8 yo was dx'd w/this when she was 4) and they have severe sensory issues. They are also super bright....how would I determine whether they have OCD or aspergers? They seem to overlap in so many ways....could a person have aspergers w/OCD or is OCD a part of aspergers? My son is about to start therapy for OCD to treat severe oral aversions but I'm not sure if we're going in the right direction. I'm also wondering how strong the genetic component for OCD is?
