Choosing to medicate is serious decision, but it can be the right one for some.

Our daughter has been on Zoloft for over a year now and it has given her a life

back. She still has work to do and is not interested in being in therapy, but

I cannot imagine where she would be without the Zoloft. I am now taking Zoloft

as well for OCD and depression; I was nervous initially because I am allergic to

Prozac, but have had no problems with the Zoloft. I have also taken Anafranil

(which they normally won't give to kids unless they have tried other things) and

Nardil (an MAO inhibitor for depression), with good results. I can honestly

say that I am not sure I would have been around to get married and have children

(or might have been around but too miserable for family and kids) without the

meds. Insulin, chemotherapy, steroids--all of those can be scary meds too, but

if you need them, they can be lifesavers.

Just my two cents,

(mom with OCD, 9 yo daughter w/ OCD)
