Oh boy, do I feel for you. It seemed like yesterday when my dd(13) started

with that.Last night she was asking me over and over if she was going to throw

up in her bed.

One day at a time is a great way to deal with it!!!

I'll be thinking of you. I know where you are coming from!!

Hugs

Judy

Subject: Progress is Progress Right?

Well dd made it to school today, and on time - hooray! She threw up at school,

however. BUT, rather than bag school, she called my wife to bring the

Emetrol(sp), took it and returned to class. One day at a time, one day at a

time. She knows it's mental. She's missed so much school I think she forced

herself to stay there. Emetrol is really just like the old Coke Syrup my folks

gave me, so it's nothing special. But if it just takes the edge off maybe it

will help. Even if it has a placebo effect - who cares! It's her mind that is

making her sick, so her mind should make her well too! God I hope this phase is

quick.

Now hopefully getting sick won't bring about a bad association tomorrow morning

before she gets to school or we'll be right back to where we were.

Now, if there was only a drug to cure the teenage attitude!

Just a word of caution.... giving Emetrol or coke syrup is like putting a

bandaid on a booboo that doesn't exist. In other words you are feeding into an

irrational fear and it is likely to pop up again. While I know how important it

is for her to be in school (my son has had school refusal and a vomiting

phobia), to do it in this way may be counterproductive or temporary at best.

Just my 2 cents....it is more important for her to see that she is OK even

though she threw up and so throwing up is no big deal. My son threw up in

school and later said it's weird that I wasn't afraid anymore. His phobia did

return, but we were able to use that experience to help him work through the

what if scenario and worrisome thoughts.

Let me know if you find one!!!

That's good that she made it to school and stayed despite this. It is one day

at a time, and I hope tomorrow is a better one!
