Guest guest
Hi Tammy. I am not to sure...but I think I read somewhere that RA can occur in people that has had trauma. I don't think the trauma is what causes it, but is a factor in it starting up in you. It also, runs in families. If you get any more info on this subject, I would love to know about it too. I was thrown from a horse in my early 20's and I seem to have greater amount of pain on the side I fell on. Best wishes BTW: welcome to the group!! -- [ ] Question-Cause and Affect HI! it's me again-the newbie! I was wondering if antone elese with RA has had a past injry ,and if there are any links to RA and severe injries.I had a very bad fall about 2 years ago -no broken bones, just beat up,bruised and sore.I fell 5 feet down into a pile of broken certer blocks and rubble.I landed on my right shoulder and hit my left arm and back on a broken center block. All the areas that I hit are most affected. Please let me know if any of you have had a simimular experiece. Also My hands and legs shake especialy when using them.I guess from the pain.Does any one else have that too?Thanks!-Tammy-

Guest guest
Hi: Just as stated here, falling is not the cause of the disease it's self but can cause the flare up of the disease. You can have the pre- dispostion to it and remain unsymptomatic or a trauma can set off symptoms. As for it causing worse symptoms in previously injured areas I found that to be true also. Ex: 6 yrs ago I broke my left ankle since then I have had many problems with that ankle such as swelling and pain. I am in no way an expert but can tell you that my Dad was just diagnosed with RA within the last month and they highly suspect it with me. I have read that again although the acutal disease of RA does not run in families, the gene to make them more pre-disposed to the disease does. Although there is still a lot that needs to be researched in regards to this disease. I hope that happens soon because the most joint damage is said to occur in RA in the first two years, and RA is not easily diagnosed because there is not a definate test for this condition. That is my 2 cents anyway, welcome to a great group! Sincerely, Barb 3173 -- In , " Climer " <climers4@a...> wrote: > Hi Tammy.
