Guest guest
Well hurricane Wilma beat us up, but I'm grateful that our problems are mild compared to what other hurricane victims are going through. Our home was untouched. We had a close call with a tree that we wanted to get rid of anyway since it was so close to the house. Mother nature removed it for us. I wish she had a better aim and didn't land it on our fence and citrus trees, but I think I should be smacked for even complaining since it's a miracle that it didn't land on our house. I'm saddened to see all the damage to the landscape, but I know it could be so much worse. Things grow so fast here. Life without electricity gave me a renewed appreciation for our modern conveniences. No telephone, cable or even cell phones is an eerie feeling when everyone in my life is just a phone call away. But in my boredom I figured out how to program my scanner that I've had for years and never took the time to figure out. But then hearing all the emergency calls was just to depressing so that was short lived. A small generator kept our small cube refrigerator going as well as a light and small appliances, so I was better off than many. The hum of generators could be heard throughout the neighborhood. Neighbors appreciated our pool since it supplied toilet flushing water. I just can't imagine what the people that were hit by Katrina are going through. I hope all of our Florida members are safe and didn't sustain much damage. Welcome to all the new members. I've got lots of reading to do to catch up. a
