Guest guest
Does this mean that our kids should have only mineral water??? How can we possibly control that? Guest guest
I never had vitamins with fluoride and never had a cavity myself. I do not give fluoride to my kids as a vitamin supplement. I am afraid of the fluoride in the tap water. I have a regular filter - so I do not think it takes the fluoride out of the tap water. Am I being over concerned??? Thanks, Chris To: DownSyndromeInfoExchange Sent: Monday, July 30, 2012 5:31 PMSubject: Re: [DownSyndromeInfoExchange] Fluoride research When my older 2 kids were little,we lived in town and had fluoridated water + I gave them vitamins with fluoride, but stopped when they were under 5... we moved to the country before the rest of my kids were born, and have well water...never gave fluoride supplements to any of my other 5 kids. they range in age from 29 to 14 now, and none of them has ever had a cavity Does this mean that our kids should have only mineral water??? Guest guest
My oldest got fluoride drops when he was a baby, but the younger three did not. We have had a reverse osmosis filter for nearly their entire lives, so no fluoridated water. My oldest has only had one cavity (just recently), but the younger three have had tons of them. The dentist tells me it's genetic. Guest guest
Fluoride definitely helps with cavities. (Don't know about any negative effects). I'm 63 and had a couple cavities lately. I hadn't had a cavity in many years. The dentist told me that they are seeing 'more' cavities because many people are drinking SO much bottled water....and not getting the fluoride in the city water. We have a filter system on my kitchen sink that I'm still using, but wish it could filter out everything but 'some' of the fluoride. Guest guest
When I worked for the Air Force in a security position, we had a list of potential poisons. Fouride was one of the top on the list. I have done my homework and have found that it is not to be ingested at all. If used at all it should be in moderation on the outside of teeth, but not swallowed. And some research shows flouride to cause cavities... Do your research. Guest guest
I should have added that even if the fluoride (or lack of it) is the reason my younger kids have cavities and my oldest does not, the danger far outweighs the benefit. I don't know why it is allowed at all! When I worked for the Air Force in a security position, we had a list of potential poisons. Fouride was one of the top on the list. Guest guest
That's what I've read in research too, is that most cavities are in the genes. There does seem to be a higher incident of them in the special needs population that have mal absorption issues...maybe they are getting the right nutrients?? It would be nice to be able to put our kids in a bubble and protect them, but you just do what you can such as water filters, not buying the fluoridated water bottles or toothpaste. I've also read that supplementing Vit K2 can help with cavities - haven't done enough research to know if it's accurate in all populations. -Crystal
Guest guest
actually, even what we've been taught for 80 years about ingested fluoride preventing tooth decay is probably wrong! This study <http://www.icnr.com/articles/national-fluoride-tooth-decay-study.html> by the National Institute of Dental Research (NIDR), an office of the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) was very interesting! What their press release/ " conclusions " were, and what the data showed are, as is often the case, two slightly different things. Lots depend on the politics and " What Message They Want To Send " I suppose. So, Please consider these facts: (The data lumped U.S. counties into one of three fluoridation statuses over the last 17 years. ) The single lowest tooth decay rate reported in the survey occurred in a totally nonfluoridated area. The average number of decayed, missing, and filled permanent teeth (DMFT) per child was 2.0 in the fluoridated areas 2.0 in the nonfluoridated areas 2.2 in the partially fluoridated areas The percentage of decay-free children was 34% in the fluoridated areas, 35% in the non fluoridated 31% in the partially fluoridated areas It is possible that the study is being used falsely to promote an EXISTING policy of water fluoridation in the U.S. but in any case it's hard not to admit that at least this part of the data raises questions about the NIDR's overall " conclusions " namely that Water fluoridation is SO SO GOOD and should be implemented EVERYWHERE. It's very true, and been shown through documentation, that big industry originally colluded " way back when " with Mellon University in Pittsburgh, to " get rid " of their by product Sodium Fluoride! The Fluoride Deception is an excellent book, done by a previous BBC journalist. There is a short documentary (27 minutes) about the main findings, here <video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2886269353175462948> or here <www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3y8uwtxrHo> I live in China which has naturally super high fluoride in the soils, even rather high rates of tooth fluorosis from too MUCH ingested fluoride. So one of my first questions as a responsible parent was " will my kids suffer from no fluoride in the water??? " And I quickly satisfied my answer! We even shifted after year 1 to non fluoride toothpaste, are in China with zero fluoride in the water, plenty of nice bonded organic fluoride salts in the veggies where they should be, and ZERO CAVITIES in my 8,6, and 3 year old, plus NO NEW cavities for me or my husband either in the 9 years we've been here! Guest guest
The video of Fluoride Deception is where you should start, but if so moved, email me and I'd be glad to send the PDF of the BOOK. It's too large to upload in the files section. It's amazing. Liora
Guest guest
I forgot to say, anyone who wants to filter out fluoride, there is a company called BERKEY offering gravity units (will work in a power outage) that are great. My mom has the BERKEY LIGHT and there is a special fluoride removing filter you can add on. Liora
