Who said he is too old??We used anesthesia for dental work for older kids with DD all the time. Especially because they were older with a tendency to fight the dental care team.

Hi All!

Has anyone's child had dental work/cleaning under Nitrous Oxide? We have never used it. Freddie has historically gone into a surgery sweet under general anesthesia to have all is work done. He is too old for that now. Need to work him towards handling it all without drastic measures!

I know about making sure there are no upper respiratory issues going and he does not have AAI going on, but just wondering if there are any other thoughts I am missing?

Thanks!!

I was wondering the same thing (the 'too old' for anesthesia). We used general anesthesia when he needed a lot of work done. Any other times, I believe they use the Nitrous Oxide. They don't ask me about it. He goes to a good pediatric dentist that is willing to still take care of Josiah who is now 23.
