dear paula i to have problems with my ankles . i was thinking about getting

them fused. but was afraid i wouldn't have any movment at all in it . can you

still have movment to bend it to walk. thanks Mike

Hi Mike. It is my understanding that a fused ankle joint no longer

has up and down movement, and since I still have a little up and down

movement,

I hesitate to get it fused. I've almost totally lost my vertical

movement. We have several people here that have had fusions of the

ankles, so maybe they

can tell us about their experiences. I'm waiting patiently for ankle

replacements, which are getting better all the time. I'm afraid if I

get it fused, it

may compromise getting a replacement down the road.

Hi Mike, my left ankle is fused and the only range of motion I don't have is

moving the ankle sideways.. Other than that I walk normally, or as normal as one

can with so much RA in other joints.
