If it's giving way, you could injure your ankle further. I have RA in my ankles and they used to give way a lot. Now they are permanently fused and have no side to side motion anymore, so at least I don't have to worry about them giving out anymore. Please talk to your doctor. a On Nov 12, 2005, at 2:29 PM, huenadia wrote: > hi i have RA and SS my RA is getting worse especially my ankles when i > get up to walk or if i am walking my right ankle gives way causing a > lot of pain any ideas > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi Mike. It is my understanding that a fused ankle joint no longer has up and down movement, and since I still have a little up and down movement, I hesitate to get it fused. I've almost totally lost my vertical movement. We have several people here that have had fusions of the ankles, so maybe they can tell us about their experiences. I'm waiting patiently for ankle replacements, which are getting better all the time. I'm afraid if I get it fused, it may compromise getting a replacement down the road. a On Nov 27, 2005, at 1:04 PM, mike nelson wrote: > dear paula i to have problems with my ankles . i was thinking > about getting them fused. but was afraid i wouldn't have any > movment at all in it . can you still have movment to bend it to > walk. thanks Mike
Guest guest
Hi Mike, my left ankle is fused and the only range of motion I don't have is moving the ankle sideways.. Other than that I walk normally, or as normal as one can with so much RA in other joints.
