Thank you for you input. I appreciate your input as an ER doc.

We tried the exercises for the benign positional vertigo, and tried applying the

procedure when the vertigo was present too, but it didn't affect it. The ENT

also tried it to try to set the vertigo off in her office, but he didn't react.

She ruled it out based on that. Kind of wish it had been that because it would

be an answer and solution. Is ear pain is typically present with that type of

vertigo? Because he always has ear pain, with lot of pressure and severe

plugging in his ear at the time of vertigo.

If it is viral, can it flare up off and on for a few years, like he's been

experiencing? And does it resolve itself, eventually? Although, most recently

it's been the worst it has ever been, and it seems the cold he picked up

exacerbated everything.

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to figure this out. You gave me some

good ideas of more to ask of his doctor tomorrow too. Thank you.

Hope we can get him well soon. Prolonged illness doesn't do well with an OCD

kid. :o/

On the up side, he said he is not going to let this rule his life and insisted

on going to his class today. I let his teacher know the situation and told him

to call me if there were any problems. I'm glad he is being a fighter about it.

Maybe fighting OCD taught him that.

I hadn't considered accupuncture. I will look into it. We are willing to try

anything to make it stop.

> Accupuncture works great for most types of vertigo so you might try that. I

am an ER doctor and the type of ear infection that causes vertigo is in the

INNER ear, not the middle ear so there is often nothing visable and it is a

presumed diagnosis based on symptoms. It is often usually viral and there is

nothing to treat with antibiotics. If it is another type of vertigo called

benign positional vertigo , there are some exercises you can do to treat it.

Look up Epley (maybe Eply)maneuver on the internet. Hope that helps
