Marcella, I think there are parents here who have some medical knowledge, hope

they see your question. But also you might want to do a post to Dr. Geller

(put in subject " Ask Dr. Geller " ) and tell him this, the results, etc., could

Anafranil cause the drop. And then one of us moderators will forward it to Dr.

Geller.

Just a thought. Like you, I'd want a 2nd opinion.

Hi Marcela,

I'm sorry to hear your daughter continues to suffer so, and that now you are

dealing with thyroid issues. I am aware of thyroid issues with lithium, but

don't know what influence if any with anafranil.

I thought they measured the blood regularily to check for this. I guess there

is a range on " normal " and differnt practitioners will have different opinions.

A naturopath, for example would probably have a different thought. Not sure if

you could afford to consult one, but this would be my thought, for one.

From past posts, and emails we've exchanged, I am aware that the relationship

with this doctor is not ideal. Have you ever contacted the patient/family

advocate at the hospital to discuss this? Sometimes you have to fight to access

better expertise, if in fact this is part of the challenge.

I found big differences from doctor to doctor, and since you don't get to

choose, it's the luck of the draw. But you can ask for a change, you might not

get it, but if you outline your current situation, and that your daughter is not

getting better, communication issues, etc., you might.

At the very least you can ask for another consult, or team consult, or even a

medication evaluation - think it's called psychopharmacological evaluation. I'm

not sure how it all works, but if you call the main switchboard and tell them

your concerns and ask who you can talk to.

Last thought, have you looked into PANDAS? There are many on this site who can

give you info, but if you go to the ocfoundation.org site and read about PANDAS

and see if it fits at all.

I've been thinking about you and wondering how things were going. Sorry to hear

they have not improved. It is a really tough place to be in, you have my total

empathy. Email me anytime Marcela.

Many hugs!

Barb

Good thinking Chris! I forgot about this. Marcela, once you get a reply back

you will have more information to have a better discussion with your current

doctor. Piece of advise though, don't tell them you were given information from

an online doctor, just say from your reading you are made aware of such and

such.

Hi

Thank you for the suggestion. I completely forgot about this option.

I just posted my email to Dr. Geller.

I sent it to Dr. Geller. Yahoo recently took away the " forward to " option so I

copied it into an email and sent it to him. Will post his reply here when I

receive it.
