Guest guest
Today was the day to go to the neurologist. Yet another effort to get SOMETHING or SOMEONE to help our son. I mentioned PANDAS (as he seems to meet all of the criteria) and brought supporting documentation, list of tests, etc. The doc informed me that PANDAS is not a REAL diagnosis or condition, and if I want to help my son I'd be better off forgetting about it. *sigh* After a VERY long visit he prescribed Pimizid (sp?) which is a dopamine blocker and is supposed to help supress the tics and OCD symptoms. We'll see. In the meantime - yesterday afternoon I acted on information provided by the wonderful people in this forum and contacted Dr. K. in Chicago asking about PANDAS. He (the doctor himself) actually emailed me back! He said our pediatrician (who previously also said PANDAS is not possible) was WRONG and that he'd be happy to see us and test for it. So...now we just have to get an appointment and arrange a day to get down there... Just wanted to update everyone...
