hi! Been meaning to share.I really wanted to get a brachiation ladder, but like everything here, nothing is simple in China. So, time went on....I still wanted more daily physical activity and the air pollution is SO bad here in Beijing, that most days Etel cannot go outside. It's also winter, around zero F right now, another factor in wanting to stay indoors! We made an indoor play place!I got a sturdy metal clothes drying rack and put it in the living room. It's great for gripping onto and hanging from! We put our tall ladder in the living room. It's a 3-step

stepstool, with good gripping rails up the side, doesn't topple, and has a handle/leaning bar on the top. Perfect for a toddler to climb up and go over the back of the sofa - over and over again! Also, the best thing I did is to put a medium-firm mattress on the living room floor. (We had a spare twin size from ikea, and took it out for a slumber party and never put it back) We put the mattress in front of the sofa but it could be anywhere. Etel (turning 3 tomorrow) has made tons of progress in the couple of months since the mattress has been in the living room. I recommend the mattress play for kids who are already walking confidently but still lack stability- still working on ramps, small ledges, and steps- the mattress there has helped a lot. Just make

sure that you have corner protectors on any sharp edges around. We also have a small trampoline (the kind for adults to aerobicize or whatever on) that has also helped. Larger ones (maybe 4 feet across, low to the ground) are also good for little kids- there's one like that in our MyGym class. Be aware that larger kids can get really bouncy on larger trampolines and can injure themselves. Etel's now going up and down full steps on her own! (Not regular steps one after the other, just a step up or step down- one at a time, on/off the mattress, and we have a couple of ledges in our house too). all the Best in Health,Liora Pearlman ,
