Guest guest
yes I have, and worse. There's a whole organization <www.caica.org> dedicated to exposing institutionaled abuse (at special ed schools, primarily) against students, especially special needs students. There's also a petition to sign to the Mercer Kentucky school district regarding this boy's case. <www.change.org/petitions/petition-to-board-of-education-of-mercer-county-kentuc\ ky> > > has anyone ever heard of a school doing this before??? > http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2011/12/parents-angry-after-school-put-aut\ istic-son-in-bag/ >
Guest guest
sorry, it seems the CAICA is not operational anymore. Here is one of the places that got a lot of media attention, although CAICA logged deaths in many far flung Boot camps, Survival centers and such for " treatment " of ADHD and oppositional behavior etc. <http://autism.about.com/b/2007/12/26/aversive-therapy-for-autism-a-tool-for-goo\ d-or-evil.htm> <http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2011/mar/12/electric-shock-school-matthew-isr\ ael> <http://www.disabilityscoop.com/2011/07/25/state-curb-electric-shock/13591/> and another case I remember involving the death of an autistic boy, I believe, there at Rotenberg center, when he was forced to wear a helmet with white noise as punishment (with his arms straight boarded so he could not pull it off.) There is a photo of 's mother, and a photo of the boy <http://banaversives.blogspot.com/> in the restraints here. Apparently some of the staff felt bad about the treatment, or they would not have photographed it. Makes me sick, and so so sad. CAICA was a good organization, so sad to see it not functioning. Oh right another case I remember is Angie somebody. She was restrained, resulting in her death, after blowing bubbles with a straw in her milk at the dinner table. <http://banaversives.blogspot.com/> <http://restraint-deaths.blogspot.com/> has logged some of the 54 deaths in centers that CAICA had details on.
