Guest guest
Hi I still count everything, and I write lists for everything.(can't just mark on my calandar). I have to write everything down in multiple places.( crazy, I know!) Sometimes, I feel like I do it just so I don't feel so overwhelmed. That sudden thought you had and then it just goes on from there. Like with my counting. I still recall I was making some type brownies or something that I was stirring by hand, was supposed to stir like 60 times or something. Just sort of switched " on " and I began counting steps I took to get from one place to another, all sorts of things. Later I went thru a period of scrupe, a contamination/ germ thing about my mom, bad thoughts (same as & similar to your example)...I even do some minor checking now. But then I've had long periods with none of it bothering me. And the examples I listed weren't altogether, just different periods of my life it began and eventually stopped (with some work from me). (though all if it pops up now, just I can shrug it off) But that day the counting started, that " switch " still fits, sort of like something clicked " on " and I was counting that day and after for a period of time and made myself eventually work on NOT counting. > I remember when my OCD first began. I was 12, and walking down the road with my friend who was carrying her puppy. All of a sudden a horrible thought popped into my head. I was thinking about throwing the puppy over the bridge into the water. Than I started thinking about squeezing the puppy. I remember wondering why I was thinking about such an awful thing. One thing turned into another. I still have the bad thoughts, but I can disregard them. Funny how I can manage
