Guest guest
No, she is not taking any medication- she has severe hoarding issues.. and horrific rages. Guest guest
Thank you SO much. I had some idea the OCD and rage were connected, but it's good to hear from others who have similar experience. In a message dated 2/5/2010 1:53:12 P.M. Guest guest
My daughter (16) has had rage problems from a young age. As she got older they intensified. She has been on Zoloft for a year now and it has helped her. It did not increase her feeling of anger but can make her feel sleepy and we are trying to make adjustments. She is beginning therapy with a psychologist who has expertise in CBT and ERP, finally after " trying out " various psychiatrists and drs. who were very little consistent help. The medication helped her brain be able to get out of the loop she was stuck on and begin to work on her compulsions. I understand the walking on eggshells. Her three brothers have always avoided her because of the rage, so they do not have good relationships at all. I am learning better how I should act. Stay extremely calm myself, not give into irrational requests, not try to fix everything to avoid the rage. The midst of a episode is not the time to reason etc. When your daughter is calm then you can discuss how the OCD is causing her to think a certain way. > > > > Hi > > Anyone have a child with OCD who also rages at little things. Guest guest
Yes, severe rages are common in children with OCD. I have read that sometimes the anxiety is expressed as anger. For our daughter, Zoloft has helped with both the OCD and the rages. > > Subject: Severe rages and ocd > To: > Date: Friday, February 5, 2010, 12:14 PM > Hi > Anyone have a child with OCD who also rages at little > things. Guest guest
My thoughts exactly. The rages have gone away since we started antibiotics combined with Advil, which reduces inflammation. Have you considered PANDAS? Kids with PANDAS rage.
