Guest guest Posted July 11, 2009 Report Share Posted July 11, 2009 Just thought I would add an update of my own. I saw a woodpecker today, which is a very rare occurence for this neighborhood. I assume they keep to the forest preserve nearby, but today I saw one pecking away at a pine tree in the back yard. I do not know what kind it was. It was a small bird, and I did not get a chance to see its markings so I do not know what kind it was. It flew off to another tree after about 15 seconds of my watching it. I was looking through the branches at it, and I do not think it saw me. I'm pretty sure it flew off because it wasn't finding any bugs to eat on the tree.
