Guest guest
Hi,Its been a while since my last post. , who will turn 7 shortly and has Down syndrome, had a great time during the summer. She want to a day camp with no aide (despite the school team advising she would need one). There were no incidents, except for one or two toilet accidents. A friend of my older daughter that worked there told her was her favorite camper:-) after that we went to Canada camping and going to the beach. She enjoyed it mum and dads full attention (other teen daughters didnt come along).Since returning home, she seems to have regressed a little. More toilet accidents a d aLOT of yelling. Although she has made slow but steady progress, speakind and interacting more, the yelling gets in the way. Other kids get away from her - I dont blame them. Sometimes I wish I could do the same.We tried ignoring, than giving attention when she was well behaved, time out, speaking in a low voice, you name it! Tomorrow I have a meeting with her team at school and would like to suggest some strategies any ideas? She speaks mainly one word, sometimes two. She would bring me the remote, for instance, I look expectantly and she says want wiggles please. She also started singing to some kids songs spontaneously. The other day she said I am cold, without promping and appropriately. Yesterday we went to the doctor and she was playing with toys on her own. A kid came and asked her name - blank. Then he asked if she wanted to play and she said yes! (but ended up not playing with him, a skill she hasnt yet acquired). After that she found a small camera and we were playing, one takes photo, the other says cheese. Then, spontaneously she went aroud the waiting room clicking each person and saying cheese! Its the first time I see her do meaning appropriate game on her own without anyone telling her to do so. Yesterday, there was no yelling and she was an angel with the eye doctor ( she had to look ath the light, which she loves doing).Tipically, She yells when she doesnt want something.Tks for your advicePatSent from my iPhone
